Advice needed for diesel tuning/appearance mods!
Discussion
Hey, completely new here, please bear with me.
I have a 2009 Renault Megane II 1.5 dCi and I am looking for some very cheap but effective mods I can make to the car, both in terms of performance and appearance.
I have never remotely tuned a car before so will need things spoon-fed, but basically what I am looking for is a slight performance increase, nothing huge, for a bit more acceleration
Aesthetically I would like to HAVE a visible exhaust: I know diesels are designed for economy rather than looks but currently I have a plain old bumper with a central, down-facing exhaust which I am hoping to simply add a tip to. Again, whether that will work I have no idea, but I would like a bit of a nicer noise. Can you buy tips which change the sound coming from the exhaust?
Any help, advice and information is much appreciated. Remember, the cheaper the better

Hmm.
Diesel tuning wise, a remap is pretty obvious. couple of hundred quid at the most and will liberate a fair few horses on most turbodiesel lumps.
Diesel pipes point down because of the soot that comes out. It's a bit antisocial to spit it at the windscreen of following cars. The tip will make no difference to the sound, but if you do go for a louder exhaust, it will just make it a louder four cylinder diesel. Manufacturers spend billions to try and make them quieter, and there is IMO a good reason for that.

If you want your a which looks, goes and sounds better than your 1.5dci Renault, I can't help think that you might be better off putting your time and money into changing the car.
I don't think you'll ever get what you are after, it will cost you money, your insurance company may frown whilst adjusting your premium and I'd be surprised if you didn't make your car worth less come resale.
Just in my opinion.
Welcome to PH by the way.
