29% of gamers will buy on release date apparently

Will you?

I won't unless there's a must buy xbox game. Plus new hardware isn't the best

Will likely buy both PS4 and next Xbox on release unless stupidly priced. Not for any games in particular but more because I like new toys and will likely get the urge since there is nothing else I want or need right now and it's always nice to treat yourself from time to time smile

Nah, prefer PC gaming, would rather use the money towards upgrading my PC.

Well with regards to cross platform - most of the big titles are cross platform but saying that microsoft will flex its muscles and make alot more exclusive than sony.

This Destiny title has me intrigued and they're meant to be leaning towards sony and exclusive content. but for the sake of one title i'm not sold. EA and Xbox apparently have a huge announcement coming up indicating to a similar deal on all EA games. they were even absent from teh ps4 launch.

there's not many things that will be different as the ps3 and 360 were eg blu-ray. pre-owned usage will affect my decision - ps4 has said its not blocking pre-owned games though i'll have to see what xbox says. i'll probably end up buying one in the months after if a good deal pops up though it does take a year or so for the games to really hit their stride on a new console.

the ps4 price is rumored to be around the £400 mark which would fit the pricing when it comes to new consoles.

Haven't decided yet. still waiting for a proper launch for ps4 too see how good it will actually be, especially if psn will remain subscription free~ if it isn't then it may be x box for me, of course depending upon what Microsoft come out with for the next gen console.

Most of the games set for release are going for ps3 and 4 release at the moment, I think that will probably give my ps3 another year of life after release of the 4 unless the online play is massively better on the 4.
Thinking that other people can get the system and the bugs that will probably go with it to sort out first before I buy one although there is the temptation to get one if it is in the run upto Christmas and supplies look like they won't meet demand, then stick it on ebay, not being bothered if it sells or not.

I'm not willing to layout the full launch price for both. I think I'll probably go Xbox as aside from the Uncharted series the PS3 exclusives never really captured me and I rarely use it. I also prefer the Xbox pad.

Its looking like they will end up being very similar in hardware capabilities, so its really going to come down to which has the best exclusive games.

il probably leave it 3-6 months hopefully although i am weak to temptation.

main reason being is im just not excited for the ps4, i have no interest in the whole facebooky/share/like/network crap, i use my ps3 to play games and thats it, ive never ventured into the other crap it does, i can understand some people do thats why its there but its not for me.

i feel i can live with playing with the "old" console for a while till prices drop, i was thinking jumping ship back to xbox, but then everyone i play with seems to be sticking playstation side and most time i spend playing online.

I've already got something more powerful. It's called a PC. smile

Seriously though, not a chance. If they try and knock them out the door too cheap they'll make huge losses on the hardware and i don't think Sony's shareholders will take lightly to a $150 loss on every console. Too expensive and no one will upgrade from what they have. Sony need to be working flatout to get the next GT game, the next Uncharted game and maybe even an exclusive next gen version of CoD to get people to upgrade. If they release games on PS3 and PS4 no one will bother as, to some poor deluded people on the Internet, PS3 games 'Look OK to me?' and they won't bother upgrading until all their mates do. perhaps some sort of trade in deal on a PS3 might work.

I'm still on a PS2 paperbag

No upgrade on the cards for me. And £70 for a game?!

Well, I guess it will depend on price. And if BF4 or a Skyrim "update" is issued with it or available.

I'd only specifically buy the PS4 if GT6 is released for it alone. IF GT6 is released for the PS3 then I won't bother.

They are different though aren't they? I have two great PCs, but I still love my consoles. Consoles are so much easier to just pick up and play a bit of a game - I tend to game for much longer periods on my PC, on different sort of games. Both are equally as good for relaxing.

Not me. I've got a list of games for the 360 I'm waiting to go into the bargain basket for £10.

It would depend on when certain games are released for PS4. Considering how long GT5 took to get released, I would be surprised if GT6 came out near PS4’s release. It also remains to be seen whether GTA 5 gets released on PS4, or when that will happen.

I hope that basic PSN stays subscription-free. Whilst I like PSN, it isn’t exactly unique compared to other ways of interacting (Facebook, Twitter etc). With the plethora of devices that now play video games, Sony doesn’t need to give people another reason to shun the console.

Way too many PS3 games on my shelf unplayed, and dozens more I want to get through before thinking about next gen. No backward compatibility would mean keeping both around which I don't really want.

The PS3 got a price cut in the UK after 6 months or so, if I bought "early" it would be then, or more likely wait for a second revision (as with the PS3 slim) which was when I jumped on the PS3.

No real interest in buying £400+ consoles and £60+ games just to have the newest shiniest thing. I don't even have a 1080p capable TV yet.

i wont be buying it straight off because with anything new theres problems with it so once they are fixed then i'd probably buy it also my current fat ps3 has served me well for the past 5 years and dont see why it cant last a bit longer
