Goodbye Lexus, Hello XF

I have had the worst ownership experience imagineable with my 2007 Lexus GS350 AWD.

So finally I got fed up and came to my senses.

It's been replaced with this:



2010 Premium Luxury with the 5.0L V8 (We don't get the diesels in America).

I fking love this car.

How does fuel compare over there these days. Last few times I have filled up here the price has been pretty high.

Curious to how big jags are regarded over there compared with the grandad mobile rep they have over here


Also interested in the fuel prices at the min as we are planning a trip with about 1200miles of driving involved and would like to try and know how much its going to cost me!

Beautiful car. I think the pre-facelift headlamps suit the proportions of the car much better than the later slitty lamps do.

I don't know about the old person image any more; I'm early 30's and I'd happily drive one of these. For me Jaguar are starting to acquire the exclusive feel that Mercedes once had, which I feel is being diluted by an ever increasing range of budget models.

Very nice. My boss has just bought one this week for his Mrs, the 3.0D, hopefully he'll prize the keys off his wife and bring it in to work next week so I can have a wee gander. She had a S-Type before, and according to my boss the XF is ginormous times better.

Just come back from Florida, fuel is around $4 a gallon, bit more if you go for the premium stuff.

You're not. I nearly went for a brand new AWD V6 but I like the look of the earlier cars and frankly wanted a damn V8

Fuel depends where you buy it. In Pennsylvania regular was in the 3.66 range and premium a hair under $4 a US gallon (3.8L). Here in New Jersey I filled it up last night w premium for $3.79 cash. Cheapest I've seen regular is $3.45. But jersey has cheap fuel.

Well in this area (NYC) jags have become scarce, I rarely see more than one or two XJs a day while S classes and BMW 7series are common. They don't really have an old persons image per se, people do love them but the lack of AWD has been badly hurting their sales. Shame as the new XJ is a fantastic car and I nearly bought one but for what I'm using this car for the money was tough to justify. I don't need the space and recently the XF has REALLY grown on me.

Oh and to answer another question... I'm 38 and have been driving jags (xj6) since I was, oh.. I guess 20? I started driving them in college (university).
