armourfend removal

i know there are a few threads relating to this but as anyone actually done it?
does it ruin the paint or leave a shadow?
im guessing air drier an patience is the key to success with a good polish afterwards.
what do you think?

It is a good product, as is Sellotape, but I wouldn't cover the front of my car in it.

cos ive been to look at a tuscan,left a deposit but the armourfend spoils the car and its covered in it,front, back, sides you name it,the polish lines didnt help but id prefer it off.

If you do a search of all the TVR forums you'll find there have been a number of threads discussing this issue. IIRC someone said that the paint under the armourfend may not be the same shade as the exposed paint. This assumes that you can get the armourfend off the car without damaging the paint. I'm sure the search results will tell you more.

Sounds like it's brand new Mike, and somebody's forgot to take the protective film off.

I'm currently looking at a 3 month old Nokia phone, suffering the same indignity, I'm going to peel the sticker off the screen, and let you know how I get on.

I may be available for hire, if this goes o.k.

BTW. - let us know how you go with the armourfend. My Cerb used to have it, and I hated it. However opted for front end spray, so I dont know how it peeled off.

It depends upon the car's paint and how well it has been applied. We've had TVRs where it has just peeled off with a bit of heat and care; and we've had cars where it has pulled the paint off and you can see the strands in the fibreglass.

Everybody's got there own opinion on the look of Armourfend, mine is, that those lines look a mess on such beautiful cars.

I'd rather have the stone chips & save up for a front end spray every couple of years.

Where do you draw the line, armourfend your wheels & tyres, roof, in case a bird shits on it, or go the full hog and cover it in bubble wrap.

Only my opinion, and there's a thousand people who will disagree.

I have to say that I'm with you, I'd much rather see the car in its proper state, even if the nose does end up looking like the sky at night.

yeah me too, hence the query.
but im a little concerned now that i could possibly ruin some of the paintwork getting it off,but when i get the car ill have a go.
trouble is its everywhere!

used a hair dryer to get mine off. Start with the wing mirrors first to get the knack, if you get it to hot it goes tacky and to pliable to cold and it will only come off in tiny bits, get the heat right and hey presto.

I have the dreaded stuff on mine. I'm still undecided whether to try and get off though. It's not that noticeable IMHO........

Personally I'm a big fan of armourfend. Have you tried removing the polish lines, as they shouldn't really occur if you polish it carefully.

I guess its hard to make armorfend look really good on a TVR because of all the compound curves. Worked great on my old Elise though.
