Hey,

What do you guys think of the new A45 AMG? Thinking of ordering one, good size and amazing performance with 4-wheeldrive. I read that an AMG aerodynamic package could be chosen as an option, looks good but I do not like the rear wing. Can you delete the wing?

Would trade my current BMW 1M for the Merc was my thought..

Honest answer.

The AMG is for posers and the like who just want the latest car to look flash and don't give a st about how it drives. First reviews have suggested that it won't be a patch on thte BMW. Why do it.

Cautiously optimistic here. I can't see it being as precise or quite as nimble as the 1M, but it sure sounds like a hell of a lot of fun. Not many AMGs I haven't been a big fan of in recent years.

I can't find anything on the A45 on the MB website.

Any ideas on a release date and cost?

Cheers.

Will it be a limited production like the 1M? I'll pop in to my local dealer tomorrow and see if they have any info.

I don't *think* it's a limited run. Could be wrong though. Also think it's intended as more of an M135i competitor than a 1M competitor, perhaps there'll be a Black edition or something for that.

Geneva Motor Show kicks off on Tuesday, expect the details to come out very soon after smile

You would be ABSOLUTELY mental to go from a 1m to a a45

Seeing the new a class on the road it looks very cheap, defo not a patch on a 1m, the only way up from a 1m is something with a v8

A lot of opinions....from a lot of people who haven't seen, let alone driven the car. Not saying these opinions are wrong, but they're currently ill informed.

OP...if you've had your 1M for a while and you just fancy a change, why not give the A45 a whirl for a bit? A change is often as good as anything, even if what you're changing to is (potentially...nobody really knows yet) technically inferior. There's nothing to say that you personally won't prefer the 4wd characteristics or any other major differences between it and your 1M, regardless of what motoring asks or other 'experts' suggest!

careful....I'm not sure sensible advice like that is allowed on here.

It's got some tough competition in the form of the M135i but I prefer how it looks and the interior is much more interesting. I'm really interested to see what the first reviews are like and what the final pricing is, my SLK 250 CDI goes back in 12 months and with decent PCP/Lease deals generally available on Mercs It is definitely of interest.
