Hi, just had an autowatch alarm fitted and all seemed well, but now car will not start. Alarm uis disarmed, key in and fuel pump primes, but will not turn over. Just had a new fuel pump and ECU, so don't supect them. Also clicked fuel cut off, so a little stuck. Can anyone help before the AA turn up?

Thanks

Seems like it was the immobiliser. It failed to start for 1 hour and then as the AA tun up, it sparked into life.... How foolish I felt&looked, but home now and going to replace the immobiliser as I've had a few issues in the last 5 months and I think it's time for a change

Did you install a new alarm but keep the stock immobilisor? As you now they can be a bit temperamental at times.

The thing is, if it is the stock immobiliser then at least one half of it must be OK fro the fuel pump to prime. It COULD be the starter motor (or solenoid)... Just a suggestion..

The stock immobiliers has two (at least) relays - one for the fuel pump and one for the stater motor solenoid. The starter motor solenoid relay can fail and cause intermittent starting problems. Sometimes the car started, sometimes it did not.

I had this a while ago and discovered that when it did happen holding the key in the start position and slapping the underside of the passenger dash got the car started! The immobiliser is in there and the slaps were enough to bounce the relay so it engaged and the car started. I got the immobiliser replaced and all's been well since.

Replaced the immobiliser and here I am again, stuck waiting for the AA at a petrol station.
All was fine this morning, started 4x and no issues so I thought it was fixed.

Will update as it's the fuel pump which is not priming, so am guessing it's the relay or solenoid?

Just a quick question. When key is in the ignition at the 2nd position, the yellow light should be on?

If not, could this be the fault?

Ŵon mine, speedo has two lights at the bottom, left = oil(yellow) right = ign(red).
Both come on with the ign and go out when started/running.

Fuel relays can be an issue
Is fuel pump getting 12v?
Circuit additionally runs through the impact button under dash (resettable).

Thanks for the response. I'm in a difficult place and think I've rules out nearly everything.
I've had a new alarm, immobiliser, starter motor, fuel pump in the last 6 months. Power is getting to them all, but the engine does not turn over.
I am wondering if I need a new ignition as the relays were changed and I am running out of ideas.

Is the fuel pump not priming and the starter not turning the engine over?

Does your car have the hot start mod fitted ?

I had a similar issue, thought it was the alarm/immobiliser but it turned out to be a problem with the wiring to the hot start mod.

Yes, exactly this. It sometimes happens when cold as well as hot start

Sorry I was unclear, I had the same problem as you when my car was cold just as you have, but the reason for the problem was in the wiring for a hot start mod which had been fitted by a previous owner

Check this. Ignition light should come on 2nd position. If not could be the Vauxhall ignition barrel at fault. Give it some fiddle. Let us all know when found and fixed.

Can someone tell me where the siren is hidden on the standard meta alarm, mine just flashes the hazards but doesnt make any noise. I have a little key that I am assuming turns the siren off, like one of those crap ones from the '90s hehe

The meta siren is under the air filter on mine.

Also, mine doesn't 'chirp' when arming or disarming, but there is a sort of click noise. ( new alarm, last year)

Hmm, maybe the reason that it doesn't make a noise is because there is no siren under the air filter. The bible said it was there too but I was hoping it was lying to me. The alarm works, well the hazards were flashing whilst I was driving it last night anyway, lucky that I have a stoplock to stick on it for the moment hehe

Its weird. The immobiliser works when you first get in and the hazards flash with the central locking but I was able to drive about for a while last night with the alarm going off, it took me a while to figure out that what was going on because of the lack of siren.
