I see reds, yellows and blues - is there a place that supplies colour changes for the std. Ultima dials. I find white too severe and I am looking for a pale silver/grey with white needles. Can anyone recommend a way to change them.

Thanks

There might not be enough of a contrast to make out the needles in your peripheral vision with those colours. Black needles would possibly be better with that background colour...

What make are they?
Do they have Ultima on the dial face? If they do then you may be better off selling those on to a new builder and getting some to your colour choice direct from the manufacturer.

I cant remember, but when i contacted them, they said they could not write Ultima on the dials as Ultima had a license with them.

VDO make the smaller gauges, could be they sourced all instruments from one place?

Autometer is coming out later this year with LCD display. Dial in any color you want! Right now they are testing in NASCAR (blah) to get the kinks out. I will be installing one in my just ordered Can Am!

Looks neat. Probably this is the start of a new generation of displays smile but probably not cheap for the moment.

Looks very neat, but somehow I feel that's a bit too much for a car with the ethos of the Ultima (Analogue dials all the way smile )

Yes, I do agree, dials are cool and the right look. On the other hand I didn't want more than half the console/dash filled gauges, so i'm of two minds. I didn't want LCD digital (ugh) so I thought this might be a good compromise. That may all change when the price is revealed!

You have changed my mind. That and the LCD gauges seem to be late to market. I'm going to try and adapt a 997 GT3 instrument cluster to my Can Am.

thanks

Cool, will certainly look good.
I did this kind of transplant a while ago with a 996 Carrera cluster.

It communicates via two CAN-Bus lines with the car, which you will have to emulate to make it work outside a porsche.
You should have the CAN-Message Matrix and the timing requirements to start with.
There are also a few signals lines which have to be addressed with fake information.
All in all not an easy task. But if you are into electronics, it should be feasable.
cheers

If you are thinking of fitting either of those Porsche clusters in front of your Ultima wheel you will be unable to see at least 50% of them. The wheel will be in the way due to it being a lot closer to the instruments than in a Porsche.
