Apparently 991s in the US are being recalled regarding exhaust problems. If Porsche have to replace my exhaust what's the chance of a new Sports one?

What do you mean? For free? God knows; ask your dealer...?

I would imagine that they will only get paid by Porsche if they carry out the recall verbatim. Porsche will supply the part to them gratis and pay them the necessary labour charge.

If they fit a sports exhaust, what will they do with the other new exhaust?

Worth asking though!

you'd also be expecting uk customers to be treated like the us customers, which isn't the case. Here in the uk most people are quite happy to get shafted on stuff ,they wouldnt tolerate in the USA.

Agree, consumer protection laws are different in the US, in particular due to 'class action' legislation that allows groups of consumers with the same problem to sue en masse. As a result of the potential for litigation, companies have a fundamentally different relationship with their consumers and seem to take much more initiative, in advance of any lawsuits.

We seem far happier to accept 'they all do that sir'.

Well, the salesmen know nothing at my OPC. I'll have to ask the Service Manager tomorrow. Perhaps it's just in the US.

It's just the tailpipes that have been fracturing, causing a hazard to following traffic.

No problem then. Running over a 991 tailpipe is likely to be trivial when compared to driving on British roads.

Regards,
First 997s had similar recall as tailpipes were falling off. Not much chance of getting a sports exhaust out of that!
