Advice needed on courtesy car
Discussion
New to forum so firstly a big hi everyone
Now for advice please
My sister had just got a 2 year old Ford Focus but the day she picked it up a fault with the car appeared so she took it back. She was given a courtesy the guy was in a absolute rush to get get her out so he could go pub ( I can kinda relate to that! ). When she got in car my mum asked the dealer what petrol does this car take he replied unleaded and turned his back on her so my mum and sister left. My sister put £20 in the car and after a few hours went to go into car and wouldn't start. The car turned over but didnt start, I couldnt understand why. On the of chance I checked the car on an iphone app to see what BHP it was and the car displayed it was a TDCI diesel!!! Now I went out to the car looked inside petrol cap to see if it stated it was diesel and there wasnt no indication to what fuel it took. I went to back of car to see if it had a TDCI badge and never. I then check the paperwork and nothing on there either but noticed he had put the wrong date to deliver the courtesy back aswell and that the car should of been given back 2 hours on the same day the car was taken. Thats how much of a rush this guy was in! My sister is so upset with all this nothing but trouble all this has caused her. So I guess my question is where does she stand? If the guy told me it was unleaded and there is no indication on the car that it is a diesel to be honest I would of stuck unleaded in too.
Cheers and sorry for the long story

How about actually helping this guy and not being knobs.
OP, you might be better posting this in the legal bit of this forum.
The crucial thing here is to get your sister's car back. With a dispute like this, I can see the garage holding on to it. You will need to somehow prove he told them it was unleaded, and I am afraid that's a tough one. Your sister may have to take some responibility here, even though that sounds unfair.
Was it a main dealer or back street garage? This may make a difference in how it turns out.
Sorry I can't give more advice than that. Try the SP&L forum.
Welcome to PH. There's a lot of banter on here and a few schoolyard bully pricks. Also a lot of helpful and interesting folks, but do try to use correct English.

^ The difference between the usual banter comments and yours is they don't mean any malice by it.
You've just insulted 70% of PH'ers.

t! I'm doomed. I'll stock up in Red Bulls and get the back doors firmly bolted! :-)Did you run the car?
Did you get as much petrol out of it as possible? Using the old hose-pipe method etc.?
If so then £20 isn't too much and if you can get a jerry cans worth back out of it then possibly brim it with diesel and then run it through? This might be very bad advice so I stand corrected if someone can see an issue with my plan
.
I managed to put diesel into my petrol car once, about 5 litres or so (early dark morning, mixed up jerry cans
) and just brimmed it with petrol straight away at the nearest station and let it slowly clean through. Was a lucky escape though.
