My girlfriend has been insured continuously for 4 years - however, because we have cancelled policies to take out another one when swapping cars etc. We have 'lost' some NCD.

E.g have 1 years ncd, have a policy for 6 months and then change it. When taking out the new policy you just declare 1 years ncd - so end up loosing your ncd.

To prove the complete ncd that she is entitled to is it just a case of writing to each insurer to confirm when her insurance ran from and to?

Is there any easier way to do it?

Cheers.

You get a years no claim bonus for having a complete years insurance without a claim. If you have 4 consecutive 6 month policies with 4 different insurers you do not have 2 yrs bonus. You don't have any.

As above, it's gone. You've reset the counter to the last "proof of no claims" document she will have received at the last year of driving she completed with no claims.

Really? Maybe an insurer would accept this though?

Yup, all gone I'm afraid.

The same reason that after driving for 4 years I've still got 0 NCB despite never making a claim. frown
