The time has come to replace my x350 XJ 4.2 v8 sport which i have had for 4 wonderful years. The only thing I think it lacks is a supercharger, so I have been looking at an XKR. Having an 11 month old its going to be a struggle to get a seat in the back and the wife isn't really happy to go from a four door to a two door.

So my next port of call is the XF SV8, which has the engine I want and the practicality I need for the little one. I'm off to have a drive of one this afternoon- are there any particular issues/ faults I should be looking out for?

Also in terms of running costs, I'm not expecting the supercharger to add much more to fuel/servicing etc than I already pay for with the XJ- is this a reasonable assumption?

You fuel consumption will rise by 1-2 mpg. There are no serviceable parts on a supercharger, you can change the oil yourself for about £25 if you get to about 60K miles. Have fun smile

Cheers! Have put a deposit down. Next headache is warranty. Been offered two years for £700. Extension of manufacturer warranty including roadside call out and any non wear and tear items that contribute to an mot failure- does that seem a reasonable figure?

thats a very good price for an extended Jaguar warrenty, especially as I was quoted £600 for one years warrenty with Warrenty Direct and even then I had to pay the bill and reclaim it. Put it this way, peace of mind for 30 quid a month, no brainer really. Jag warrenty and customer service are very good, far better then my previous Beemer. post a photo of the motor...

I have an S-Type 4.2 V8, first registered by a JMD 31.12.2003. I bought it with 14 miles on it. I extended the original Jaguar warranty for each of three consecutive years until I could no longer do so as the car passed 100,000 miles. I recall that the Jaguar warranty costs were about £1000 each year. So, if you've been offered a genuine Jaguar warranty for £700, take it!

Cheers for the replies folks!

This is the beast in question:

All being well should be picking it up next week!

Not too keen on the silver mesh at on the lower vents but I guess it will grow on me!
