£2,000, 100k Alfa 147...madness?
Discussion
The first one I had was a money pit, the second one a bargain.
I paid £1300 9 months ago for a 2004 with 49,000 miles, they don't go for a lot of money.
If you're looking for a diesel one, they go for a bit more.
On the petrol models on the test drive do some fast gear changes, 3rd gear synchro is a slightly weak point on these, I've seen a few with it crunching in 3rd gear on a fast change, eventually it gets worse so test it thoroughly on the test drive... I got caught out with this.
Other than that be aware the suspension does wear out rather quickly, bushes on the wishbones, and on the petrol models the economy is nothing to shout about (I get 27mpg round town in my 2.0, was around 35 in the 1.6)
The cambelt change is a must, the interval is 36,000 or 3 years, they do have a habit of going pop very soon after this...
