Bike rack advice needed

My parents need a bike rack for their car. They went to Halfords but were told there is nothing that would fit. I had a look online and it seems to be the same story for finding a bike rack where that car is in the "supported" list. I've managed to put bike racks on many cars including my MX5 so I don't quite believe there isn't one that would work.

The car is a Vauxhall Insignia 5 door hatch back from 2010.

Halfords man was obviously having a "moment".... Thule stuff is good, this pack includes the feet and horizontal bars, you will need the Pro Ride 591 carrier too which are about £60.

I would only recommend the Saris Bones rack if you can not find a roof rack with bars, I;m never sure its as safe if they are hanging off the back though it does keep them out of the wind.

Personally I'd get a tow hook and fit a Pendle. Roof racks are PITA for carrying bikes about, especially if the bikes are heavy.

Thanks for the suggestions. They are getting on a bit so my dad didn't want a roof rack as he would have to lift the bikes up there and they don't have a tow hook already to fit those types so the cost is a little steep if you include having one fitted. Will have a look at the Saris though. Cheers.
