Okay, so having read every word on the internet, and watched some pretty dodgy YouTube footage, I've pre-ordered a Fuji X20 (due with me 12th March) as my 'keep in the pocket' camera. It was a toss up between the X20 and a Sony RX100, which has a larger sensor, but tries to fit 20 million pixels on it, and doesn't have a viewfinder. X20 is bigger - which is bad, especially for my pocket, but has a fast lens all the way to tele, which is good. (Another reason I didn't go for the Sony).

Anyway, being a sad git early adopter, I'll post thoughts and images up here when it arrives. And if it's crap, good old Mr Internet will take it back within 7 days, and we can all pan it.

Watch, as they say, this space.

Or... watch this: http://www.trustedreviews.com/fujifilm-x20_Digital...

ETA Price is £499, not £599 like it says above.

I have taken the opportunity to buy an X10 now that the X20 has been announced.
Very good price now from the Fujifilm shop for a refurbished camera.
So far I am very impressed - it just feels right and the image quality is excellent.
I find a viewfinder is essential, and there seem so few cameras with one these days.
I'm sure the X20 will be an excellent camera for you.

Thinking of one of these ...has the release date been confirmed yet?...Amazon is quoting 10 march as in stock date. Fujifilm person told me they were announcing this cameras release at Focus ( nec) ...anyone heard anything?

Good choice, i reckon they'd sell on looks alone, lovely little things.

A colleague has just bought an X-E1, which is the same family of cameras, and its a wonderfully built thing.

I was very tempted by the X10, but there were a few things that bugged me about it. The X20 seems to have addressed most of those, so I'm going to hold out for the new version.

I am eagerly awaiting your thoughts on the X20 GetCarter. Had a play with an X10 today and it is a lovely little thing. When do you hope to take delivery?

As mentioned on another thread, the delivery of the X20 has been delayed. Best info is by two - three weeks. I'll post on this thread as soon as I get it.

It was mentioned on the thread about the NEC tog exhibition. Beano kindly went to the Fuji stand and asked!

I was a bit miffed not to get it this week, as the light here is fab at the mo, still - all good things , etc.
I'll keep you in the loop.

I tested the x10 for a week or so. Coming from a dslr I simply couldn't get used to not being able to change aperture and shutter in a blink.
I think I'm going to wait for the X100s to be in the shops, so I can get my hands on the controls to see what I think of that.
I don't use zoom lenses anyway, so wouldn't miss that.

Mmm - X20! Felt good in this bear's paws. Really nice piece of kit from handling perspective and quite quick compared to other compacts. I predict it will do well; very well, if "street prices" easy it down by 20%

yes Absolutely. I've been bhing for ages that I can't find anything that I consider user-friendly in that sense. Plumped for a Nikon P7000, regretted it mostly since, but it's not too bad if you're using Aperchewer Priority (I use hardly anything else, in practice) with a quick flick of the thumbwheel. Only a dSLR lets me use a lens' aperture ring as God meant us too, though!

Bv$$3r!

I was only joking when I speculated that pirates had got that shipment - but I see no better explanation is forthcoming!

Has it arrived yet? I went into a local dealer last week to ask when they were getting them in, and he said their first batch had already been in and gone out, more coming this week. I've just bought a bunch of new SLR gear and the cashback cheque from Canon will nicely cover an X20. I can't quite justify an X100s sadly...

Camera made it to the local station... just gotta hope it got there before the postie!

Reviews are now coming in: http://www.pocket-lint.com/review/6197/fujifilm-x2...

(Apart from lack of ND filter)...this is high-end compact camera perfection. We've got a lot of love for the X20, and it's given us a lot of love back. The high-end compact camera hierarchy has a new champion: all hail the Fujifilm X20.

Mrs Get wants it. I just do what I'm told.

Oh and X20 was sent by sttyLink, so it'll sit in a dark room for another day. frown
