Found another rare wedge which needs saving!
Discussion
Hi
Went out today to look at another wedge, which turns out to be one of the two pre-production 350i press cars!
It has only done 44,000 but has not been on the road for two or three years.
Its in fair condition, the body has a lot of marks on it, but no crazing or cracks, it could be used like it is but a blow over would be needed some time soon, but the roof realy needs replacing.
The tyres are badly cracked and the wheels are tatty and could do with a refurb!
The dash venneer is in great condition, no cracks or discoloration at all. The seats, dash top etc need a good clean and feed, whilst the carpets are in need of replacing due to being a bit threadbare and faded. The door cards bottoms are not original.
Most of the electrics worked, one headlight was a bit slow, one window didn't work and both wing mirrors were dead, but all other things worked!
The engine would not run, and we found the AFM had been played with. With a new AFM, fuel and spark plugs I think it would run.
The brakes need at least new discs, other than that it would not take much to get the car back to good condition.
The chassis was in good condition for what we could see.

An offer has been made and we will see if its accepted.
If it is then it will go to the fest as its a pre-produtcion 350i

Yes between your new FHC and this car being found mean there are still some rare cars out there if you keep looking and follow up on leads.
Now which lead should I follow up on next week?

You're too kind,
After all mine's just chassis number 2!
Not a pre-production model, maybe I'll chase one of those down next

Good luck with this one Andy and let's live in hope for next week's lead being a good one, whatever it is

I think that one will rot where it sits!..A total waste of a rare and fantastic looking car!..
Great news that another has been found and possibly saved..This is our heritage and if we cant preserve it then we have nothing...Ziga
