"Road" cleats aka SPD-SL or Look type. Any three bolt road cleat should work.

I haven't bought the pedals yet, I went to decathlon today and tried them on and they fitted really well so I bought them.

I thought it would spd sl or look, which should I go for? I would ideally like black if possible.

Also do they do a pedal which is clip in oneside and plain the other so I can wear normal trainers?

The other thing is that they won't go with the spinning bike at the gym, will they?

Spinning bikes generally have SPD pedals (PDM324 platform/spd) which use the MTB style cleat, they're perfectly usable on a road bike but some roadies will get a bit sniffy about them.

Edit, sorry, the mtb cleat won't fit your shoes.

I doubt they'll work with a spinning bike: IME they're normally SPD pedals, which have two-bolt cleats.

SPD-SL or Look refers to the bolt pattern: it's a standard. Shimano (who coined the SPD-SL term, i.e. Shimano Pedal Dynamics), Look, Time, Speedplay, Wellgo etc. all make pedals with cleats that suit this bolt pattern.

They don't make a road (3 bolt cleat) pedal that is clip-in (aka clip less, the "less" referring to the lack of more traditional bicycle clips) one side, flat the other. For that you'll have to go down the SPD (2 bolt) route, which'll mean different shoes,

Using them spinning is not my main concern as I've used trainers for years without problem. I just wanted a shoe that was comfortable and these seem to be even though I haven't tried them on the bike yet!!

I've just got to decide on which pedal to go for, might have a look in my LBS next weekend.

Thanks for that, they look good, what's the difference between the normal and the light action? Just ease of clip in and out?

I think that's what it is, I'm on the easiest setting and still fell off on my first ride right foot was out, but I fell to the left and couldn't break the left foot out in time....... Nice soft landing though and I was laughing my ass off

I've got rat traps at the moment and they are lethal, my first ride went really well until I called round in to see my dad. He opened the front door to find me in a heap.

Wife bought shoes and pedals for her new road bike at the weekend - she went for the mountain bike style, because she will need to walk from her company bike parking to the changing rooms in them.

I bought the normal ones, I think it's just practice. I did it on a quiet road and only my brother in law witnessed my incident (my father in law was pressing on ahead)

I have these shoes and have a set of Look pedals fitted to my bike. I know I am late into this post, but the shoes are really comfy. Only downside is cold feet in winter, but nothing a pair of neoprene overboots couldn't sort out

Good to know they are comfy. I did think they were quite well ventilated, hopefully I'll be able to man up for a few rides as it will soon be warm! I hope.
