Hotel Recommendation in Richmond?
Discussion
Evening all,
I'm looking to book a hotel for a weekend away with the GF in Richmond next month. I would like to stay as close as possible to the town centre as we like to leave the car at the hotel / guesthouse and explore on foot.
The Frenchgate Hotel and Restaurant (http://www.thefrenchgate.co.uk/index.php) looks nice and gets a good review on trip advisor.
Any thoughts or recommendations appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I've stopped at the Frenchgate a couple of times, the bridal suite is lovely if small and the others rooms where of a good standard. I'm no foodie but to me the food there is very good.
The other place I've slept is here http://www.millgatehouse.com/index.html, slightly odd place but brining with character

Sorry, missed this, I live just outside Richmond.
Frenchgate is a nice hotel, ask for the room that has a 'bath with a view' - food's nice but the owner can be a bit annoying after a while, he kept hanging round our table telling us every last detail about the food when we just wanted to be left alone.
Kings Head in the square has just become a Best Western, formerly it was independently run and was pretty good (we had our wedding there), no idea now but it's only just changed hands so they can't have ruined it that much.
There's a couple of smaller hotels in town (no direct experience though) or there are pubs with rooms (Black Lion if you must), failing that there are B&Bs.
