I am seriously considering a VRS wagon (diesel manual) are they really any good?

All the reviews seem positive but experiences of owners would be appreciated.

Depends on what you're looking for, I guess.

It's a well-packaged car, with a huge amount of rear leg room for its size and a decent boot; the interior probably isn't the last word in cuddleableness but it's not bad and the two-tone stuff in the VRS makes it look a bit less dull than many; mechanical bits are typical VAG, which to be honest these days means decidedly average; there isn't as much sound-proofing as in a Golf or an A3, so you get a bit more road noise.

Chassis is nicked from a Golf, so it drives very much like a Golf. Avoid the 18 inch wheels because (unless they've changed them recently) they weigh a tonne and ruin the ride and handling.

If you're looking at buying new, there are a few blacklines left. They have a upgraded leather seats, sat nav, parking sensors and black alloys and they are the same price as the standard vrs estate. I was after the hatch version but left it too late.

I know, thats exactly what i am thinking of getting. Waitng a dealer getting back to me with a price.

Considering trading down from my evoque, already got a fairly decent offer on it so if the dealer can give me a deal on the blackline estate then I might go for it.

Part of me thinks its a shrewd sensible move fiancially, other part of me thinks i am mad to consider getting shot of the evoque for a skoda.

OP - you will definitely get a different reaction driving an Octavia VRS compared to an Evoque! Buying an end of model run out is always good IMO. The fuel economy should hopefully be much better as well as things like insurance/tyres etc etc

I average about 37 mpg in the evoque so not too bad, I would recon a vrs might average about 45mpg?

I only pay 300 quid to insure the evoque so i am not sure whether it will make a big difference.

It all depends if the figures stack up.

I have a figure in my head I want to bank as a result of changing cars if i cant manage this i will probably just kep the evoque

I'd imagine depreciation on the Octavia will be pretty ferocious.

I'd assumed that the Evoque was fairing quite well. Isn't there a waiting list for them?

I think the values on Evoques will start to soften now they have ramped up production & they have been around for a year or two. ..it might be a good time to say goodbye to it?!

May well be true. Just pointing out that a brand new Octavia is hardly a solid investment. hehe

Well looks like

There were no blacklines left in Blue as I wanted however have did a deal on a normal vrs estate with a few extras. Im reasonably happy with the deal.

I appreciate its a car which will be replaced soon but its a lot of car for the money still.

Not going to be as luxurious as the evoque by any means but will be a bit more practical, should do an extra 10mpg and will free up best part of 10k which I will lump straight off my mortgage making me £50 a month better off for the next 25 years.

Getting about 90% of the evoques purchase price back after a year is quite good too.
