I love my standard 996 but feel the only weak point is the front end. I have contemplated fitting a turbo bumper but don't want to devalue my car and I hear the radiator vents don't line up.

Had anyone ever seen a splitter or similar to help as I am sure I am not the first to think this

Mk1 or Mk2?
If Mk1 you can fit an Aerokit front bumper (same look as GT3 but with centre rad slot closed up)
If Mk2 then you have the choice of the Mk2 Aerokit bumper (again GT3 style) or you can fit the anniversary model bumper. This is styled from the turbo but fits the C2.
Fwiw the turbo front bumper should also fit, you will just have to change the ducting for the rads. It's an easy enough job though, each is just held onto the front of the rads by 5 or so screws. The 2 ducting plastics aren't especially cheap however.

While the Turbo front bumper cover may fit and you may be able to resolve the radiator ducting issues -- what about the center radiator duct? -- the Turbo bumper cover has a much more aggressive aerodynamic shape that creates downforce at speed. If you fit just the bumper cover the car may lose some aerodynamic balance. Enough to be concerned about?

Who knows?

I have a splitter/bumper extension fitted on my 986. Its painted trimmed and fitted very well. I'm not sure if it will fit 996 but there must be a similar one on eBay which is where I got mine. Pic is in my profile. Like you I found the front end a bit weedy and looked like it floated in the air a bit too much.
