Another "What really happened" to the Hindenburg documentary.

Although I know the great ship was destroyed, the footage of these great beasts in their happier times is fascinating. If you ever get a chance to visit the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichschafen, then do so. Great day out.

It was similar concept to the one on HMS hood. Put all the facts together and then say take your pick as we don't know for sure.

Still a very impressive ship bring back airships!! I wonder if that mad man rebuilding the titanic fancies having a go at the Hindenburg?

If anyone knows that Billionaire, I join you in requesting him to build a version of The Graf Zeppelin II which was the peak of Zeppelin design (NT excepted!)

I could die a happy man if ever I saw something the size of an ocean liner wafting majestically along the skyline - or maybe preferably in it!

Dear Euro lottery winner, I'd like to ask you for a donation to a project...

I saw it and they went through all the known possibilities to try and work out which theory was most plausible in a Mythbusters kind of way by blowing things up.

I think the conclusion was most likely correct and theories about bombs or explosive skin proved most likely not to be. Nothing they did to replicate the accident hadn't already been mentioned at the time, but putting it all together like they did was interesting.

Funny you should mention Mythbusters - they did the selfsame thing to test the skin dope theory and came up with a concoction that worked like thermite, as I recall.

I think the conclusion last night about the skin was that it can create a fire when a spark between the earthed frame and the skin is allowed to jump but the resultant fire didn't react like the fire on the Hindenburg.
