Whilst my car is off its wheels, they are off being re painted, has anyone tried one of those hand held steam cleaners ( type they sell in B&Q for oven cleaning etc)
Wondered weather it would clean the chassis?

I notice when the play the X5 advert on Sky with the man with the irritating voice hour after hour they never show car chassis , mainly bathrooms and sinks !

Not in my experience. WD40, a cloth and some patience I'm afraid!

I bought one and it helps by melting waxoil etc making it easier to wipe off. It tends to push the ste around as opposed to getting it off. Helps but not the complete answer unfortunately.

Funnily enough I had one at work, so gave it a bash. A combination of gunk, steamer and cloth did a good job in my opinion

Tried the WD40 as a bit of a non believer and was very surprised how well it worked.
It is messy but you are back to the paint in no time.

Thanks for the replies.

I found that waxoil literally falls off with body shop panel wipe.
