The Ringwood to Christchurch road that runs through Sopley can be fun. Going from Wimborne to Shaftesbury via the Cranborne road and Zig Zag hill (as mentioned above) really is an epic hoon if you have a little while to spare biggrin

Thanks for these - will be sure to check them out as soon as we get a bit of sunshine...

My frequent journeys are Verwood to Bournemouth (and back), Verwood to Poole (and back) and Verwood to London (which I have accepted as an M27/M3 'commute')

Any suggestions to spice these journeys up would be greatly appreciated thumbup

Verwood to London can be more scenic if you go B3081 until A354 then via Salisbury, along the A30 to Stockbridge then A303 east towards the M3.

The B3078 from Cranborne to Wimborne is a good hooning road too. Turn off at the Horton Inn towards Farnham to put a loop in that includes the A354.

As someone who lives in ringwood you cant beat the new forest on a sunday really, its very quiet on a weekday at around 2/3 but who isnt working?

If you want a nice route this is one i took the other day for a spirited drive, its allot of fun you will have to stop for cars in some points but allot of it you can see far down the road.

Anyway here is a nice route:

- Starting in Ringwood, head East onto the A31.
- Turn Left at Stoney Cross and you enter the New Forest
- Go Down this road until the next Left turn, onto the old Runway (watch out halfway down there is a massive Dip in the road)
- Follow this road until you get to a X/T junction Right will take you to ringwood but you want to turn Left and head towards the A31. This road will take you for a while going under the A31 keep going
- You will aproad a Y Junction, as if you are coming up from the bottom of the Y the road will lead Left, But you want to go Right. there will be a Car Park on the Left but keep going over the cattle grid.
- Follow this road, its tight but you can see far down so you can have a little fun just be careful.
- You will now come to a X roads, go straight accross.
- Follow this road and you will go through Brockenhurst, the road bends round to the right and then out onto some straight bits.
The Road will start to go uphill the to the left, you are now going into a place called 10-Bends, its a windy road you can straight cut but try stay in your lane with some nice speed its very fun. (again you can see any traffic its in trees but open.
The road then goes for a while and has some nice bends.
- I normally will head back at this point, Follow this road and Turn left at the Sign for Lyndhust, then Left again onto the A35 towards Lyndhurst (you went past the previous X junctuion on this road so you could head back that way by turning left there)
- I go into Lyndhust, Turn left at the traffic lights, follow that road and get into the A31 West Bound towards Ringwood.

Theres allot more you can add to this drive, im writting this because i did this on Monday for a bit of fun.

Just remember the new forest has animals wandering and people. biggrin

Just did this for anyone thinking about it:
You could do other things instead of going onto the A35, like heading towards the motor museum or something. Anyway this is still an hour long so it would be allot of fun, plenty of amazing roads on the new forest, if you know where to look.

Horton Inn to Cann common is excellent fun......with some fresh & smooth tarmac past the Larmer Tree gardens.....Compton Abbas airfield serves a good brew if you're feeling parched....along with some awesome views...
Once at Cann Common, take a left & head over to shaftesbury on the "top" road......this is a very fast road...with some cracking bends etc......
@ Blandford take the A354 towards Salisbury & do the circuit again but this time via Sixpenny Handley & Tollard Royal.......infact most roads on the Cranborne Chase are great hoonage roads.......i know, i leave there...!!
