After having my elise for 18 months I have finally gone on a driver training day - best day I've had in ages. I knew that there must be more to this car than squeaks and rattles and expense and high insurance and stone chips and bits falling off.......

How many times did you end up travelling backwards wondering who had moved the scenery??

Come on mate, details, that's what we need!!

Managed to stay forwards most of the time - bit of a wuss - first time and all that! The day was at Rockingham - skid cars first, then slalom and brake avoidance (scary at first but got better!)then 3x20minutes on the track with instructor - it's amazing how much better you get in such a short time. Biggest scare of the day - first roundabout on the way home, over confident, too fast, big pothole, leapt about 6 foot to the left- still alive to tell the tale.

Hi, I did the same (although only had the car since June) and decided to find out how much I didn't know about driving and the car. Went on the 1st Lotus day at North Wield yesterday....one of the best things I have done for £150.....had just managed "the corner" at about 85mph and then it started raining......great fun....spent more time going backwards/sideways at 70mph than thought possible - but always with a smile on my face. Then had fun on "the circuit" especially as it began to dry out. Great day.....doing another one next spring!

You usually learn 3 things on a First Lotus day.

1. How fantastic the Elise is

2. What a fantastic driver Andy Walsh is

3. What a cr@p driver you are.

Great day though and well worth the money. I plan on doing another next year.
