I used to say i was but i actaully was far far from it.

I am not a personal trainer, I am an average bloke who works in an office but has been on roller coaster after roller coaster about my weight and trying to fix it.

This isnt my usual PH style post but it is something i have a HUGE passion for.

Lately a good few people said that no matter how hard they try, they still can’t lose weight.

The question is how bad do you want it?

If it means posting daily checks in’s to the gym and posting pictures of boring food to motivate yourself then do it.

If it means telling friends you can’t go partying but want to go to the gym instead then do it.
Everyone treats a goal different and everyone’s body is different but we only get one chance at life and a healthy person is a more confident person.

For me my journey continues and I am STILL nowhere near happy until I reach my goal but I will reach it.

Anyone who says I am fat but I’m happy is blatant liar ( I used that line for years)

Don’t be intimated to join a gym, everyone that goes to a gym is there for the same reason TO IMPROVE.

I’ve had an roller coaster of a ride since losing weight where I do well and then pile it back on and keep going round in circles.

I have tried to compete twice but failed both times due to my head losing the plot and not being big enough and when the diet kicked it I watched myself shrink and it knocked me badly.

Last year I put all that’s **** behind me and did a mega good six month bulk and started dieting in Dec (even over xmas and new year)

I am 9 weeks out from the UKBFF Body Building Championships and I WILL get on stage this time.

Hopefully this might help push those of you that feel you "cant" do it.

Good job, looks like you've come a massive distance to get where you are. My diet has never been perfect but its always been ok, it's my training that I tended to take seriously for a year, then wanted to go from strength to fitness so did loads of running so always ended up screwing myself over so much but now I'm pushing myself hard, working out and doing running. Still need to get my diet sorted out though.

With how long I've been training, if I got my diet sorted and my training sorted day one, I'd be a long way from where I am now but I'm getting there.

One of the things that I am doing now is I'm coming home from work and watching motivational, fitness and bodybuilding videos on YouTube which tends to get my head straight.

Worst check me out thread I've seen in ages.... Well done BTW! It would be unfair to say in those pics you look like those dodgy ads you see for weight loss at the side of porn site pages wink

I'm just about where I want to be (no pics) but on health benders could never loose my slight pot belly. No beer but all diet induced. Loads of cardio work in the gym.

Could you post an example of your diet? I've lost a stone since Xmas and can't get below 80kgs. I'm 6 2.

Wow! You look great.
In answer to your question I am.

I'm quite shoirt, size 12 to 14 depending on store. Could definitely be slimmer but I'm fairly confident and very happy with my shape.

Nice effort.

Sorry got a bit confused with your story, what was your time frame from before to after?

Often, but not always the case. Sometimes they're just young and don't care. The reason they don't care, is because they're young. It's not circular reasoning, it's because they're either not so aware of their own mortality yet or haven't started to feel the effects of obesity yet.

Oh and there are soooo many effects. Not just to yourself, but to other people too. I need to get round to a scare-tactic article for my website about this, but still kinda collating all the issues. All I know is, I'll enjoy writing it. wink

There are people in their senior years who don't care about being very overweight and happily do nothing about it.

Same for me.
Shortish at 5ft 4, size 12 and very happy.
However, I have been an 18 at my heaviest so being a 12 is big deal.
I'm smaller now than when I got married and about the same size as when I was finishing school.

Still wouldn't mind losing the odd pound here and ther, but working on keeping toned for now.

I love food, drink and socialising, so for me I have made sure I do exercise to allow me to do that, and some parts of exercise is social anyway.
I'm now finding it hard to keep exercising when friends are not around, as its what I am used to

Great achievement. Hope you can continue with it.

I'm fat and definitely NOT happy frown. The head needs to be in the right place, I think, and mine is nowhere near there yet. It's depressing and it adds to the list of other worries/ issues I have going on right now, yet I also know if I did lose weight some of those issues would improve aswell (I'm talking more mental than physical)

In my 20's I was a 10-12, these days I'm a 16-18. I'd be happy at a healthy and comfortable 14.

Congratulations. I'm fat and not happy. Don't let it effect me too badly, but just at certain times think to myself life would be better if I was skinnier. But I am doing something about it, at gym training and not eating like a slob

Make small changes every day and they soon add up. Don't dive in going hell for leather as you'll give up before you know it.

I agree. Have just gone back to basics re cooking, so planning ahead for the evening meals, rather than trying to decide what to cook at 7-8pm at night (finish work late 3 nights a week).

I did go in a bit to quick and started zumba classes which I was loving as I used to do a lot of high impact aerobics but unfortunately it caused me to get sciatica from my hip muscles and so I stopped them frown. Can't even walk the dog at the most due to his own health probs!

Piriformis syndrome by the sounds of it. Deep pelvic, not "hip". I've dealt with loads of people with this (55% of the population suffer at some point apparently). Easily fixed.

Nothing to do with "a bit too quick", more of, "didn't start doing it soon enough"... which also covers a silly percentage of the rest of the population...
