How many shots have you taken?

A very random question I know, not something we often think about.
The missus got a 600D at the start of the year and has already clocked up 5k shots!
I felt I'd not been using my camera enough recently, so checked the shutter count.
Turns out I've done about 41k shots on my 550D since May 2011!
Was wondering how many more it might do if I look after it.
Was also wondering how it compares to other togs.
So, how many shots have you taken?

Back in 2004-2006 while shooting the BTCC I would average 2.5k shots per day, Saturday and Sunday, so those weekends alone over the 10 rounds I clocked up around 50k shots per year, 150k total plus several one off rounds prior to 2004. In 2007 when I moved to Germany and essentially stopped shooting motorsport/car shows I decided to have a laugh and count up how many I had taken purely in that area over the years and from 2002 to 2007 I had a whopping 680k of pics from car/motorsport events.
It's only after this that I realised how much quieter my life became over here in Germany, total pics shot (not including the thousands upon thousands for timelapses) I'd guess must be around 850-900k...so much so that my main photo PC is somewhat of a monster (if you have a large library in lightroom you'll know that it can get rather processor/ram hungry), 16Gb of RAM, i7 extreme CPU, SSD's etc....just a pity that the SSD's are still relatively small and expensive the larger you go, a 3Tb SSD for a few hundred bucks would speed up the read/write for all those photos...

I've had my 5D3 coming up a year and have done nearly 10k shots on it.
A lot of those have been at events, weddings etc where you take a few hundred in a day.
For my landscape stuff I don't take too many, unless I am shooting something like a seascape where I try and get a few different waves to see which looks best.

Took an old 400D last year, and over two months took 148,000 images. (Give or take). Still works fine, but the shutter button has no half step feel to it anymore (it'll half press and focus, you just can't feel it). My original 400D did 60k over about 3-4 years before dying, and my current 400D personal camera is on about 40-50k I would think in the last 3 years (could be 3). A lot of those shots were for the events company and traveling.
My decider on this subject is how well you treat the camera. It's not shutter wear that seems to be the key issue for me, but how many knocks the camera gets over time. Knocks translates into the internals getting jolted around, joints getting worn, shutter mechanism (which is an amazing piece of precision engineering if you think about it) getting put out of position, etc.
It's when you see some of the numbers in this thread,
that you realise what excellent value a rapidly depreciating
DSLR body is, compared to the costs
if you had been buying and processing rolls of 36 exposure film.
ETA 242,000 frames = 6722 rolls ...... price that!!!!!

When you are into film photography you tend to be a bit more careful about pulling the trigger! Also as two out of my three main cameras are manual wind, with the medium format Lubitel taking literally seconds to wind between frames, there is a natural barrier to not blowing through too much film in one go.
So far this year probably around 100 photos, some of which are passable!
