Hi guys, does anyone know of a inlet manifold going for sale for my 1971 Vixen 2500?
Cheers and have a good day.

I would guess that if you contacted Adrian Venn or Steve Reid they could supply you one
Worth a try

Have you decided to what parameters you want to build the engine to?

Be careful to match your cylinder head.

B.

Carb. manifold available second hand from Rimmers

I've no idea if this is a "good" price but at least gives you a guide scratchchin

As stated, there are 2 types of inlets.
It is minor but the inlet channels in the head
On the net you can find the headnumbers with corresponding domensions.

Give me your block number and I can check the one in my garage.
You can have it for zending costs.

I found this on the net.
Different compression and space between inlets.
I hope that this will help.

Cylinder head
Features: 8.6:1 compression ratio, 88 mm thickness and 17 mm space between centre inlet ports
TR250, TR6 carburettor to CC67893

Cylinder head
Features: 7.75:1 compression ratio, 88 mm thickness and 23 mm space between centre inlet ports
TR6 Carburettor from CC75001 to CC85737

As far as I know any of the mk II straight 6 manifolds will fit any mk2 engine (2000 and 2500) yes there is a slight difference in port spacing, but not enought to make much difference unless you're doing tuning...But then my experience is mainly with Triumph Saloons...

I can say for sure, from personal experience that the 2000 saloon manifold with 1 1/2 Strombergs fits the 2500 PI saloon engine, and it even runs happily with no needle changes ! The later 2500S manifold had 1 3/4 carbs, as did several US export TR5 and TR6 models, and you can even open out the 2000 manifold, as it has square castings to match the square 1 3/4 4 bolt mounts...
(done that too, a long time ago ...) I say this because I was under the impression that all the 2500 engines were the same after 1972, so pretty close to yours ...

BL parts dealers in UK however told me a 2000 manifold definitely would not fit a 2500, but they were WRONG, as they had identical manifold gaskets with the same part number !

Hans,

I strongly disagree that this is minor.

The OP has posted numerous questions relating to raising performance (cam, carb, etc.), and so, I suggest that the only viable "factory" manifold is the one with larger diameter runners. None the less, IF IT WERE MINE, I'd go with triple dual throat carbs.

For my second choice, I'd fit SUs on three of Richard Good's manifolds.

Third choice would be SUs on the larger std. intake.

Best,
B.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the best of the standard twin carb manifolds for flow was the 2500S version , as it has the shallowest bends in the runners ?? Is that the [standard] one you are talking about ??

Andy,

I was referring to the manifold that matches the big port head.

Best B or Slow M,

The difference of 6 mm is small but of course the outcome is big.
I am a Triumph TR Sportscar driver for 20 years and heave heard many stories of upgrading the aspiration of the 6 cylinder.

Everybody is free to think and do what he likes.
Even spending money can be fun.

Best to remember is what comes in must come out (air) so better carburator ( 2 x SU 6) longer inlet than better outlet (6-3-1).
But also better combustion so sharper cam (TH5).

But back to my remark; there are two types of headers as mentioned earlier.

Hans,

Glad you mentioned the headers.

@Stevo302,

Be aware that some of the "racing" headers don't clear the integral water pipe on the bottom of the intake manifold. Some modification required.

Best,
B.

Chassis number is 2018T, 2 other numbers are CC6687876E? might have written that one wrong. And MM36103HE, think those are off either the block or the head.
Sorry for the delay, either working, packing house things up for our move or just been away.
Cant thank you all enough for your replies, very usefull.
This is a great site for getting info off people in the know.
Hope this summer will be a good one and get some mileage out of mine.
