OK, so my wife bought a very nie Fiesta 58reg 1.6 Titanium on Saturday. When we picked it up we noticed that the carpets were a little damp, and put this down to the fact it had been valeted before we collectedit. No worries I thought that'll soon dry.

Today wife makes a comment that the car smells, upon investigation it seems like the awful chemicals the garage have used are still present (nice shiny dashboard!), however I checked the carpet, and on the drivers side in the rear footwell, the carpet was very wet still. Further investigation tonight shows that underlay is VERY wet, and is soaking through onto the carpet. Even in the drivers footwell, the underlay is wet, but for some reason the carpet on the drivers side has a rubber/plastic layer between it and the underlay. I tried to dry it all out tonight, but in the dark and lack of time means it's better but not perfect. The passenger side front and back appears to be dry. I think I'd need to remove part

So what could cause this? And what should I do? Try and leave it to dry out? Remove some of the interior and dry it out over the weekend? Or phone garage and rant at them (they are a hour's drive away).

And where would the water have come from?

Thanks!

Check out my Clio Williams thread. I recently followed some advice I'd seen on wheeler dealers and found the source of my leaks with a smoke machine biggrin

Has it had a replacement windscreen? The glueline could be fked and this could be the cause for your leak.

There was an Autoglass thing that hooks around the mirror in the car's paperwork, I'll have a look at the markings on the window tomorrow. I guess it could be this, will Autoglass still repair this even though it was done with the previous owner?

That's what I thought but seems unlikely on an '08?

I don't think its coolant, doesn't look or smell like it.

So, a quick search around the net, could be a leak by the bonnet hinge, so I'll have a look over the weekend.

Keep the suggestions coming though, thanks.

Fords are notorious for leaks. First thing I would be doing is getting it back into the garage for them to sort. Its a headache finding them.

Speaking from experience and what I've read on forums. Common on Fords are pollen/cabin filters. Either the element being installed wrong or the casing not being put on correctly. This then allows water in down the passenger fire wall.

Other causes have been the rear light clusters, and even the rear spoiler mounted on the hatch. Some Mk 2.5 Foci are known for letting water in through the bolt holes and filling the rear wheel well. But depending on how you park it, this could run to the front.

Good Luck!
