Hi,

I hope this isn't breaking the rules but I've just bought a TVR and need to arrange for some breakdown cover (just in case...)

RAC are doing a deal at the moment that is £79.99 for UK recovery but £50 cash back (I think over 4 quarters). I know that the redemption levels on this cashback deals is low because people forget to claim but if I do claim it means I can get recovery cover for £29.99 which seems a great deal.

I have breakdown asssitance included free with my insurance but it doesn't offer the recovery part and that's the part that bothers me.

http://www.rac.co.uk/breakdown-cover/uk-breakdown/

Anydony know of any better deals?

Thanks

for a start it's upto £50 of free fuel (I guess you need to select all the options to get the full £50? which is £150+)

£29.99 is the vehicle based offer and the £50 of free fuel is not included in that, It's for personal based cover only which starts at £42 and does not include recovery (add another £38 for that)

I don't think the offer is that good.

I use AutoAid - £38. It's an insurance policy where you pay for the recovery/repair etc, then claim it back.

Only used it once, but they paid out very quickly. In fact, I had the cash before the credit card I'd used to pay became due for payment!

It's not 'upto', it is £50 if you take recovery.

I want the personal cover at £42 + £38 for recovery, therefore its the £79.99 like I stated. Deduct the £50 cash back, net net of £29.99 which seems a good deal to me.

I will check the other companies on the list though.

Now this is good.

It also covers my wife driving her car for free. No problem paying for recovery up front as long as I get my cash back.

Thanks

If I'm honest, I was a bit worried that it was too good to be true, esp. at that price.

Using it put my mind at rest though. Instant response from the Autoaid team, rapid arrival of the response vehicle, very quick refund payment. Couldn't be more satisfied.

(Plus - paying for it yourself on credit card = loyalty points/cashback!)

You have to pay with a visa card and i bet this will auto renew each year and have a cancellation fee.

This.
They offered me a quote of £85, More than the RAC without the £50 cashback.

I think AutoAid is the winner here.

Thanks PH for the advice.
