Has anyone managed to get a reduction on a 996 'fixed price' minor service at OPC (which is quoted at £265 on the web)?

Any deal if brake fluid change is also required?

Price seems reasonable but any discount would be nice.

The more stuff you have done at the same time the better I think.
I just had a major service done on my 996 along with tranny oil, plugs and poly belt at OPC Cambridge and they threw in an MOT for free.

996 servicing prices at OPCs are now pretty close to good indy prices so I was fairly happy with this.

It is all discounted anyway. I did get TIPEC discount on the Boxster on the other bits they did, coolant & exhaust clamps & also provided my own oil.

Both my local indies are more expensive than OPC, which surprised me a bit.

Booked in with Hatfield now - only drawback is a 6 week lead time as I need a courtesy car.

Wonder how many other things I will 'need' according to OPC - got to be brakes all round at least biglaugh

This.... Get your Mobil 1 or equivalent from somewhere like Costco and its a big saving compared to the OPC price

If you're using Mobil 1 then you won't save a lot as the oil price is discounted as well.
I didn't want Mobil 1 or 0w/30 either hence supplying my own oil. Mine came from Carrefore in Citie Europe, Total Quartz 7000 10W/40 actually.

It's always worth a haggle, minor service is essentially only oil & filters and a visual inspection so your price can depend how busy they are. My turbo only visits OPC for annual inspection and I've never paid anywhere near website quoted price in last 6 years.

The only way I found to get a decent reduction in servicing costs was to go to an Indy!

400 odd quid for four wheel alignment? No thanks!

eek I was quoted £180+VAT IIRC from an OPC a couple of years ago. I went to Center Gravity anyway and paid £300 all in for a customised and far superior and thorough geo'.

I'm moving away from Indy back to OPC for this month's service. They wouldn't price match the Indy, but when you include the free courtesy car, both prices end up being the same.

Yes,
My lot sent me a 10% off voucher just before my last service, then they phoned me with a "Your service is nearly due" call quoting me service costs which were already discounted but they still honoured the voucher.
I must've looked especially shabby that day which made them take pity on me......

Problem with OPC is that anything else that needs doing is then charged at £125 per hour plus their mark ups on parts although all of this is more negotiable that at an Indy. Also worth bearing in mind is the OPC service, however major is never really a thorough check compared to an Indy.

I've never been charged that amount for any work on my 996 by OPC. Less than half that every time and at least 10% discount on all parts as a TIPEC member. smile

If any extra work needs doing I will get that done at my local indie.

As prev mentioned OPC were actually quite a bit cheaper than both my local indies for the service, plus 2 days in a new boxster or similar are a nice bonus.

Current rate at my OPC is £77, they gave me a blinding deal doing some very lengthy diagnosis & gave me 10% on the bits. I found the service very thorough. I've used a few indies that I wouldn't trust with a push bike so they aren't all great!

For me the bigger question is do you trust an OPC to look after a 996?

I take mine to Hartech and I know they will do a more thorough job than my local OPC.

I do agree to an extent, but a minor service is essentially just an oil change plus a couple of other bits so what can they muck up on that eek

Also my car only has OPC stamps up to now (79K miles) and another one will please some people when it comes to resale (not that it bothers me tbh).

The indie I had intended to use which is local to me and have done work on this and previous Porsches I have owned quoted £340 + VAT for this service (OPC is £265 inc VAT), which made the choice easier.
