Looking into heading down to Silverstone for Ford Fair on the 11th of August. I live in the North West of Cumbria so it's a bit of a trek to go there and back in one day.

So any guidance/experiences of any of the nearby hotels/B&Bs would be very helpful as there are a few! Not wanting to spend a huge amount and would like to be within a 30 mile radius of the track.

Cheers!

Consider somewhere further afield - when I used to do Ford Fair every year I tended to stay in Milton Keynes - nice wee blast up the A5 in the morning, breakfast out the Co-op in Towcester then usually about 30-45 mins sitting in traffic on the A43 getting into the circuit. Always a good chance of meeting something exotic on the A5 as well - one year I was behind an RS200 all the way up, the one & only time I've seen one on the public road.
Depending on your luck, you might meet one of the Ford clubs in the hotel. This can be good or bad, depending on which club it is...

I did think about doing that, I'll have a look into Milton Keynes thanks for the heads up. Re the Ford clubs, I can see where you're coming from with that one looking at some of the attending cars..

Coming from the North, there are several nice hotels in Dunchurch which is about 40 mins from Silverstone.

Village Green Hotel and the Dun Cow are both very nice, choice of 'interesting' routes to the circuit from there.

have a look at MK Dons Hotel. I stayed there for the BritishGT weekend last year. As there wasn't a home game on it was only £30-40 a night for a nice 4* place.

We came up for the Sunday Service a few weeks ago and stayed at the Holiday Inn, Milton Keynes East. £39 - double room, was upgraded to a small suite on arrival as a wedding was happening and we asked for a quiet room.

Great service and staff.
No problems with the drive to Silverstone - around half an hour.

Have a look at the Fox at Farthinghoe. Excellent food as well.

It's about 15 minutes from Silverstone.

Holiday Inn , well ok if that's your sort of place. Not mine .I stay in B and Bs at Priors Hardwick and Lower Boddington- about 20 minutes or so drive to the circuit on lovely back roads.Great local pubs , gorgeous conutryside and v reasonable. With better breakfasts than any hotel

Not fancy camping? Ford fair has a brilliant atmosphere at the camp site, only £12, music, food, beer, donuts and burnouts smile

Thanks for all the suggestions I'll have a look into them tonight, would prefer a traditional B&B to a hotel for the reasons posted above but will consider both.
As for camping, didn't even cross my mind.. Is that just through the tickets on the website? Can imagine it would be good crack, especially as there's a few of us heading down.

The Buckingham Hotel is nice, most of the hotels in MK are awful - especially the Ramada Encore.
