Going on from reading the 're-sale grey' thread posted here, I was wondering what colours you just couldn't live with on certain cars. For me, the first one that popped into my head was Phoenix Yellow on the M3's... I love Dakar yellow, but this almost gold colour just doesn't do it for me!

Silver, grey or white. I have owned one silver car in my life and that was 25 years ago.

Red.

Unless it's on a Ferrari I can't stand it. No rational explanation.

Yeah, Phoenix yellow troubles my internals. Does seem to have quite a following though.

Most colours I'm completely indifferent to but for some reason I'm really not keen on black. Anything a bit browny/bronzy/gold as well. Oh and burnt orange or whatever its called.

White.

Can't stand it, looks (to me) like they haven't bothered finishing the car.

Very popular at the moment, though, so I'm obviously in a minority.

Almost anything would be fine by me. Although some pinks are a bit girly for my tastes and would have to pass on them in most cases.

Silver or grey. Can't stand to be that drab.

Conversely I do like black and white, though white needs to be on the right car and have contrasting detail.

Yellow, or pink. Garish. OK in the right circumstances, but for a daily, nope.

I wouldn't own another black car - show every mark and constantly need cleaning.

No pink

Strangely, I think gold or brown look OK on the right cars, just not sure I'd own one though....

Ditto with Phoenix Yellow, and any shade of pink. However I do like the range of bronze/copper colours available, especially Nara Bronze on a Discovery 4 smile

Grey or silver. Grey is just out-and-out dull, whereas silver has this horrible effect of flattening all the life out of a shape, robbing any chrome highlights of any effect and allowing it to completely pass you by.

Black and white do the same to most cars, but there are some shapes where it works - very simply-shaped cars with no fancy surface curvature seem to suit it, and there are some great contrasts that can be performed with black paint (red leather interiors, for example). Works well for wedgy Italian supercars, makes most other things look rather dull and featureless.

I did own a white car once, but given that it was a Porsche 924, the simple wedge shape suited it. Since then all my cars have been red (by chance rather than choice), with the exception of a gold Alfa Romeo and a blue Mercedes.

Next? Maybe a Fiat Coupe. In Broom Yellow.

Pink.

No car has ever looked good in it, not even 50's Cadillacs.

Green.

I like the color but every single green car that has ever been in the family has been bad look. Every single one of them.
