I issued a fixed penalty to a HGV driver this afternoon for stopping on a dual carraigeway that was subject to a 24hr clearway...

The driver had also committed a couple of other minor offences and these were dealt with by verbal warning. The driver was satisfied that his £30 fine was justified and that he should have known better...

What are PHs views on policing such traffic laws as 'clearways'?

Far more constructive in prevention of accidents than doing people for speeding...

The sign says 'Clearway', so you expect it to be just that... not suddenly come across a bloody great artic stationary and have to brake like f..., pull out, get shunted up the ar' well you know!

These are the sort of stupid tricks the numbskulls ought to be prosecuted for!

Speed only increases the potency of an accident, it isn't necessarily the cause...

I see the motoring press are reporting on a statement by World Rally Driver Champion, Colin McRae, who has recently slated GATSO cameras and demanded that the UK motorway limit should be increased to 90 mph!

Yesterday I was doing over 100 mph most of the time... peaking at 144 mph

Good. If the M25 can get variable limits downwards there's no reason why this and other motorways shouldn't get variable limits upwards under appropriate conditions, and 90mph is cruising speed on some motorways e.g. sections of the M40. Colin is spot on, and probably speaking conservatively for those of us lacking McCrash sized cojones hanging over our wing mirrors. Edited to add, yes Street spot on with that one. Who could argue?

Saw some woman parked on a roundabout earlier

Big two lane roundabout, she was parked half way round on the outside.

So she could have broken down? No she pulled away just after I passed her...while still talking on the phone...

SORT IT OUT STREET
