What would you do?

Hi gents

Since Monday I've noticed a truck parked up in peace pottage services UK livery, curtains drawn no sign of movement. I stop there twice a day for a costa and today I noticed a parking ticket on the cab yesterday . So today I took it on me to phone West Sussex police and reported it. Thinking end of it they will sort it. Returned 8 hours later for my drive home coffee and the truck still there no police aware sign nothing but another parking ticket. So then phoned said company who then told me that they have been tying to rouse the driver all day and the police had not informed them and they had a another wagon diverted to take a look.

Have I done the right thing or have I messed up some1s rest period there for could affect someones monthly pay if they are hourly paid.

Wold you have done the same?
Or would you avoid it and take no notice.

It's been rattling my brains to wether it could just be 2 trucks from the same company parked in the same spot on different days but there not local when I looked on google. I can post the company's name if it helps.

I'd have gone to plod and made a bit of a fuss after hearing what the company said. The driver might be ill (or, quite possibly have croaked it)!

Did the right thing. Remember the guys working alone, so no-one around to help. I'm sure the driver(s) appreciate the concern.
We had an external guy at my old place collapse in his cab due to a heart attack. If it weren't for the fact that a) we needed him off bay at the time and b) the door was slightly ajar when we went to knock/wake him up, well...not a nice thought.

That's what I'm thinking if it was me I'd be great full for it and a story to tell in the pub at the weekend. Hopefully this is the outcome and not the latter what's been mentioned.
Ill see tomorrow if the cab is still there and if anything has changed.

Definitely the right thing, 3 hours at Pease Pottage is bad enough but 3days somethings u
Could be a bking for a skiver, might be what saves someone's life. Chance of the latter outweighs the former in my book

Some drivers [me] were not initially aware that when using a night heater you should

keep window or roof vent open.

I went on nights out and used heaters all night a few times when very cold and didn't

get overcome by fumes but i have heard stories of it happening.

Always handy to also leave a cup on the dash with a little bit of water in it, so the night heater takes the moisture from that instead of you waking up in the morning with a dry mouth and throat.

It happened on Keele services a few years ago, driver died because of a faulty nightheater, I must be honest ive never vented the cab when using one, perhaps I should start.

Most of ours have monoxide alarms in them, they're only about a tenner off of ebay.

You did do the right thing. My grandfather had a heart attack in his cab. He would of died in there, if he hadn't been found by one of his colleagues.

I vividly remember having to replace the seat in a truck that had been recovered in to us. The fire service had cut the backrest off to gain accesss to the bunk, driver had passed away. I was thinking how lonely the end was for that person. No matter how nice the truck is and what the rewards are life living in the cab is grim. I couldn't do it.

Well sorry for the Kate reply to the posts the morning after I posted this I stopped there and there was no lorry parked there but a few police cars parked up where the wagon was. And the manager of the services was there to. So I don't think the out come was a good one.

It does make you realise that life can be to short.

P.s being ex military it was the security side of what attracted me to noticing the vehicle there for a few days and looking back I'm glad I did report it.
