Right then Pistonhead Dog Lovers !

Here's the Background. A Lady called Dawn Maw owns Angel. Angel is a pedigree Champion German Pointer bh (Female Dog Mr Moderator!), who has been missing for 13 weeks now.

How did that happen ? Well, Dawn took her 2 Dogs for a walk near her home in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. At the end of the walk, she was lifting one dog into the back of her Landrover Discovery 3, while Angel was at the front of the 4x4. One moment she was there.....and a minute later she wasn't !!

Dawn saw a van leaving, but nothing else. She didn't put 2 & 2 together straight away. She never saw the Van's Reg No but presumes the scrotes had been watching her previously......

Dawn doesnt know if Angel was stolen to order, but she thinks that Angel is worthless really without paperwork.

I commiserated with her...said I thought the only thing she must hope is that Angel is Loved and Happy. Dawn replied "She wont be happy, she had a good life here, we did everything together, she had a very full life. They cannot be dog lovers or they would not have taken her."

I contacted Dawn via the mobile number on her advert - 07921 682002 - to get the info above. Her e-mail is dmawtequesta@blueyonder.co.uk.

I will post some more pics of Angel as she is a VERY distinctive animal. She is not the sort of dog you can exercise properly in a concrete back yard... She will need plenty of open air exercise - hopefully in a park or fields.

If you happen to see her - and hopefully someone will - it would be worth following her discretely until you can identify the car or van in which she travels. Don't take any risks - but photo her if possible. Try calling Angel, to see if she responds. Don't put your own safety at risk.

If you are suspicious, report the details to Dawn, who will be able to get her local Police to liaise with yours. Hopefully this nasty situation will then have a happy conclusion. And remember DAWN IS OFFERING A £10,000 REWARD TO WHOEVER FINDS ANGEL !! Me ? Id take one of her puppies !!

Isnt she Lovely ? You wouldn't want to lose a Dog who is as Stunning and Good natured as Angel, now would you ?

A +1 for anyone that can help - I've met Dawn (and Angel) a couple of times through training our pup, and her dogs are all absolutely fantastic.

I really do hope that this has a happy ending.

Hi BigandClever!

You make a good point..... So, no German Pointer puppy for me then :-( !!

Not to worry, just have to get another Black Lab ! (My best mate died very unexpectedly a few years ago). Dont know what he'd think about a German Pointer lying in front of HIS fire in the lounge !!

Call me pessimistic, but what are the chances of it turning up now?

This was mentioned on crufts the other night, also a woman on who had her dog stolen when it was 18 mnths and then found and returned to owner via micro chip scan after 7-8 years!

Microchipping all well and good but only good if vet's, dog wardens & approved others routinely scan dogs.

If microchipping made mandatory it should arguably also be made law that anyone with/in control, ownership, care of a dog commits an offence if they refuse or fail to allow such a dog to be scanned. Any dog not chipped should be able to be siezed.

I hope Angel is found & reunited...........quite simply a stunning dog & superb example of a lovely GSP.

I had a cat 'returned' to me after four years because it was microchipped. Unfortunately he never made it home and that one trip to the vets in four years was his last. Was definitely mixed emotions.
