I know they're principally for stopping your neck from snapping in the event of a collision, but obviously they can also act as somewhere to rest your head.

On longer drives especially on motorways I like to sit back and rest my head, but I often find myself leaning forward when I concentrate and have to keep telling myself to sit back and relax. Perhaps the natural position is with head an inch or two in front of the rest?

So does your head actually touch he headrest when you're driving?

No I don't use it either but do make sure it's adjusted properly, wouldn't want to get whiplash biggrin
I'm not sure if it would be possible to actually use one without feeling awkward, I don't think heads naturally tilt back, better would be a chin rest tongue out
Really though if you're that tired I think it's time to pull over and take a nap.
