I was planning to coat my windscreen with some Gtechniq G1 but was first giving it a good clean with some G4. However, little specs of the compound are getting lodged in tiny chips in the glass, leaving loads of tiny specs of white that I can't seem to remove. Obviously I want to remove them before I apply the G1 so I don't seal them in permanently. Anyone had this before / got any ideas?

A decent liquid glass cleaner should be ok, if you have'nt got any panel wipe or ipa
type product.

You mean I should've used one, or using one would remove the spots? Could you give me a Halfords link and I'll sort it tomorrow. Thanks.

Try a nail brush and water or a nail brush and panel wipe, failing that just pressure wash.
Try a test patch of any coating first to check the affects of any specialist sealant. Some of these hygophobic sealants make the surface water bead into tiny droplets like mist after a while which is more obscuring to your vision than just plain glass. I would not advise to use any body rubbing compound on a screen anyway as the abrasive can damage the screen, I have been out to too many people who have tried to t cut out scratches and made it worse. My recommendation is just toothpaste to clear the grease layer from the screen. Keep the blades clean also.

So I've now tried
-Glass cleaner
-Panel wipes
-Nail brush and water
-Pressure washer
-Halfords glass cutter
...and the dots are still there.

And yes, they're definitely not on the inside of the glass.

Hmm.

I'd never noticed them (except just one) before the G4. They're so small it's not true but now they're white there noticeable.

my ignorant approach to this would be to use panel wipe. . . i use it before spraying and it picks up lots of bits that others dont seem too. Might be the way for you, but it is a guess.

The amount of products is nearly getting to the same cost as paying the excess on a new screen lol
Have you tried alcohol???
If it doesnt work you can always neck it and then not worry about it!
