hi guys, might have made a mistake assembling thing the new cam and am just wondering if the valves "can" technically come into contact with the pistons? or is there enough clearance?

Yes they can if the cam timing is out enough frown correct the timing and do a compression test before you refit the inlet manifold smile you have a bit more leeway if the hyd tappets are new and empty of oil scratchchin

Very much so... that's why valve pockets are often needed. When timing cams, always helps make you concentrate on keeping the chain tight by visualising the piston galloping up the bore while the exhaust valve is opening toward it... hehe

Did you use a vernier timing wheel or static (or limited timing option) wheel such as the cloyes street roller?

If you've used a static one and you've got clearance issues then I'm afraid your cam lift is took much for the pistons. Pocket the pistons (engine disassembly needed) or fit a standard cam. If you've used a vernier then check and double check and then triple check!! You may still need to pocket the pistons!
