2.7 RS Reps? Am considering one
Discussion
FFS , why does every thread have to come down to investments, depreciation etc  why can't someone buy something because they WANT to and f
k the expense ?...
But , saying that .... There are reps and then there are reps. Some are no more than a couple of panels being swapped with a quick blow over ... And others are full on detail correct cars. If you want a car to really enjoy and also give you that period driving experience, then I'd recommend doing a bit of research to help you find a decent car
Of those 2 , the saracox car appears to be the better rep as at least it's based on an early car. A lot would depend on the condition of the body, motor etc. s pistons do not make an s motor for example
Good starting point is Ddk .

The Sarah Cox car was discussed here not long ago along with a few other early cars.

Going to look at the cheaper one next week and budgeting for mirrors, steering wheel, indicators., etc it will still be in my budget. Watch this space
It may not matter to you but it looks like it's on the 16" alloys it would have come with as a 3.2 and an RS would only ever have had 15" ones.nothing wrong with them, i like the early looks, and don't mind bitsas.
if this is your first old 911 however, there are many other things to consider first (i.e. condition) - take someone who knows them with you. ask for tips on impactbumpers if you haven't already, plus you can probably find a freindly local iber through there who might be able to help you look at one.
edit - just noticed you have a 964 so you'll be familiar with much of it - pre 964 are better at rusting but sure you know that already!

I like the idea of RS reps, but you need to know what you are looking for. When I did it, I was not looking for a bit by bit copy, but something that created the essence of the real 2.7 RS driiving experience as I know that even if I bought one, it'd be too expemnsive to drive.
Mine was a 73 car that had a "2.7RS spec" MFI engine. I screwed up the buying and ended up with a project. When I got it giong, it certainly was a hoot to drive and was getting close to what I wanted. But it just cost too much to progress from project to finished article so went in the end.
So great concept for me, poorly executed.
Decide what you want and buy well!

thanks, hadnt realised on the 16" wheel front, so budget for some cheap 15's

I'd keep genuine 16s over those poor copies. I've got 7&8x15 on mine and tyre choice isn't huge these dayshttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/15x4-5-Alloy-Wheels-x-4-...
4.5" is way too narrow, but then they are listed as being for a VW camper van. Design 911 do reasonable looking replicas for not much money. However, genuine values are going up so if you can find them sensibly priced they're worth getting. Probably better to decide on the car first though.....
Could do with the wing indicators removing and the rubber strip below the doors. The 964RS door cards look out of place and the front console could go, plus a correct carpet set would help. With the steering wheel and alloys changed as stated above it would look a lot better.
Defiantly get it inspected, I looked at one once that had been front ended, hence the bonnet and bumper change.

Years ago I got to chatting to a bloke at one of the shows who had a Ruf badged SC, it was basically just an SC that had Ruf bumpers (think it was just a front valence/air dam actually) and track suspension setup etc. Looked really fantastic. Its always occured to me that if someone wants to take an 80's torsion bar 911 and make it look and go more racey there are many cheaper and arguably more genuine ways of going about it than backdating to pre-74 looks which I have never really understood anyway.
