HI guys , literaly 5 mins from my house while out walking the mutt , I have found a car pool , a Mustang / Clan / L.R / and a few others I could not clearly see, all of these are very early cars. Might be too far gone tho as outside, but at least a look , and maybe an offer . Keep you posted . So if I can get a number plate ( have one for the Mustang ), how do you go about finding more info . ......cheers Mark

The clan should be ok - grp monocoque = no rust. Is it one of the originals or a later "Irish" clan? Had an original version restoration project sitting in my garage about 6-7 years back but wasn't making any progress on it due to having just moved in to our house, 2 young children , and busy work commitments etc so sold it on. Would fancy another one but still got too many commitments on my time at the moment to be able to take the plunge. There again my son is hinting that he'd like an old car to restore . Hmmm..... scratchchin

I had a Clan too. Brilliant little car - better chassis than any TVR.....

The monocoque is GRP but there are steel subframes front and rear and plywood bulkheads which run inside the sills and can rot if the drainage holes in the sills have become blocked

Hi, thanks guys for all your responses and guides to the cars. Will get some pics hopefully on the weekend. Have walked past this place a thousand times but never noticed them. Now due to the braken etc dying back you just about make them out. This guy is a bit of a recluse, Trebus style, but a freindly neighbour is going to see if he can get me in. There are 2 / 3 garages also , so my mind is doing a wobbly just thinking what could be in them, Ferrari , Alvis , dont know we will just have to wait. ....cheers Mark

Back in '08 the guys and I entered one of those banger rallies - Home 2 Rome. Every day had a particular challenge for each team; one day it was to spot as many classic cars as possible en route to the next checkpoint (without visiting a museum biggrin).
We didn't do particularly well and on the run into Rome I commented that what we really needed was to find that the hotel owner was a car buff with a big collection of old Feraris.
We arrived at the hotel near Cinecitta (Rome's Pinewood Studios) and the receptionist directed us to the underground car park. Having spiralled down several floors we rounded the last pillar and there, stuck in the corner, on flat tyres and covered in dust, was a very early E-type Jaguar. We later found out it belonged, of course, to the hotel owner.
Now if only I could pick bloody Lotto numbers rolleyes

HI , just done a search and it doesn't look like a Mantis. Door handles are at top of door not in the middle. Agree they do look Marina style door handles ............

Possibly a kit car called a Seraph also marketed as a Bonito. Door handle looks right can't see enough of the rest to be 100 % certain. God I feel like a right nerdy geek now. !!!
Amazing I can remember stuff like this no problem but how come i have trouble remembering the wife's birthday ???????

Definitely not a Marcos Mantis and not any of the cars in Chris Rees' British Specialist Cars. It has a touch of Davrian/ Darrian about it, but it isn't....

For my second guess ill go for a GP Centron 2. Also produced as a Lalande or MDB sapphire. Should look a little like an original clan crusader from the front and beetle based. Rare beast think about 7 or 8 made !!!

think you've got it, beat me to it ron! i knew it was a kit car but could not get my brain to remember the name!

its a very rare car and if the british built version "lalande" possibly one of only 2, still i can see why they didn't make more........not that pretty is it!!

By-jove you have nearly got it , the only difference I can see is the top of the door , its scalloped to the door pillar on the Centron but not on the I have found. Doing a search it is 1 of 4 made but , one has only been found since , so could be an extremely rare kit , uses an 1800cc type 4 VW engine.

This kit car was produced by 3 different companies :
GP 4 cars made in 74-75
GV plastics 2 cars made ( Lalande ) early 80s
MDB 1 car made mid 80s
It may be that the mould for the doors was altered at some point giving them a slightly different shape hence what you have found - I've tried googling some images to see if I can spot any discrepancies but no luck.

i did find some info on the centron but no pics of later cars, there is suggestion of a possible redesign to smooth side windows so could be later model.

what's odd is that i'm sure i've seen a few of these for sale over the years (always had an itch for a kit car) and thought there might be more made or it is something else?? maybe we should link this over to the kitcar forum and let them have a stab at it!
