The Tamora has won me over - Sad decision
Discussion
Hi fellow Petrolheads. Just to say that the decision has now been made to part with my Chimaera after 10-years.
A Tamora came my way 6-months ago and I thought they'd both be with me for some time.
Sadly, the Tamora has won me over with its fit, finish and performance after the Chimaera.
I'll miss the V8 notes, handling & balance, but the 6-does have a raw edge which I hope will make up for the V8.
I'm not allowed to post the link, but the Classifieds have the advert and the Chimaera will be on display on the TVRCC Speed Championship Stand at the TVRCC Wiltshire meeting at Neil Garner's on Sat 30th Mar.
I'll try and still offer advise & experiences to Chim owners whilst in the Tamora.
Cheers all.

Hi Alun,
Trying not to fall foul of sweeping statements.....if you're a 6K mile-a-year-person, then not much difference in servicing costs (+£250 maybe)? I do quite a bit of DIY - just changed the gearbox oil on the Tamora - phew, you need very small hands compared to getting at the Chimaera!
My experience may be different to most as I had/have an early Chim 400 and a Speed Six is much larger jump from, say a 400 to a 500 Chim!
The "characteristics" are chalk & cheese, but in the end you can still drive a Speed Six like a V8, as there's as much and ultimately more Torque available all the way to 7800, with the same gearing!!
Despite seeming to be similar "size", the Tamora seems much smaller from the driving perspective, but again it's a personal statement, steering response on a track are very similar despite Chim with no PAS and a Tam with electric/hyd. Slow speed is similar again, it's just a quicker turn-in on my Tam than what I thought was a tight one on the Chim!!
My 2013 TVRCC Speed Champ Season in the Tamora will start next weekend, 17th at North Weald and hopefully in the dry! We'll see??
Cheers

P.S. I just love the digi dash of the Tamora as I can select oil temp as a main display or any other parameter (batt, water temp, outside temp, revs, speed, fuel) Brilliant simplicity and rev limit Leds, all there-in-your-face!! Plus the windows are lightening quick up & down and subtle drop/closure opening & closing the door. Miss the sun-visors...8-((

I found my 400 Chim handles as well as the Tamora, just not a "nimble", not a technical term, but that's my feeling.
It's the Power-to-weight that changes everything & gear change points...........same gearing approx, but what stops at 5500 on a Chim, goes onto 7800 in the Tamora. That's part of the improvement.
Same weight, but brakes and tyres change the "playing field".
So upping a 400 Chim to something like a 500 is a long way short of what a Tamora/T 350 can deliver.

Those extra revs, proper race feel then, much more usefull. Go on Trev have a flier, great description buddy, I bloody want one! The money I've spent I could have! Surely the usual exhausts, brakes, parts etc are more expensive, I'll make it a point of going to a champs event and cheering you on. Have a brill season mate.

Tiff Nedell stuff....nothing like how a Tamora performs on 888's (but precisely how it performs on 888's when it's 4C or colder!!).We've a couple of TVR Speed Champs drivers who throw it around like the video- not "always" the fastest line.....but always looks like it

I know, it's the last thing I wanted but hey self contol that's the thing anyway! We will try and defy the odds coming out in March! As long as I come away happy I've got on top of the car in whatever conditions then I'll be chuffed, oh that and avoiding the grass like the plague! Have a good one on the Sunday, start steady mate. Cheers Alun.
