Charging issue?
Discussion
Hi folks. I have a new question. My Cerb has a recent alternator and Sagaris power steering. I've noticed the steering weight varies with engine rpm and the lights go dim below around 1500rpm.
I keep reading about this 100amp fuse but will admit I don't yet know which symptoms this can give.
Any ideas? Just a dud alternator regulator?

When my fuse went i noticed,
Rev counter needle swings randomly
indicators stalk seemed not to cancel indicators
Hid lights failed to 'fire up'
Low battery voltage, sluggish starting
Electric windows sluggish
Misfire / hesitance
= lack of current
All these dissapeared with new supply cables and fuse & holder. Mine had the original fuse which had melted the holder and corroded.

by checking it you will probably find it crumbles in you hand!
best thing to do is to get a new fuse holder and a new 100 amp or 125 amp midi fuse in advance as you will probably find the fuse holder is cracked or damaged and if you have the original strip fuse, this will also be in a sorry state.

2 fuses and holders for less than 8 quid!

My rev counter bounces around when accelerating, thought it was another 'feature'. Is the fuse easy to get too?
Might not be the 100 amp fuse i fitted a new midi fuse and holder and mine still bounces under acceleration. I just live with it as its no big deal as it settles back out in a second or 2 when back in a cruise. If it gets worse i will sort it.The strip fuse's are a waste of time Never had a issue with Midi's after i fitted one to both my old chim and Cerb.

That's sounds like a slightly dodgey rev counter. The fuse is under the bonnet, under the panel and above the starter. Easy to get to if you have long reach socket (covered in black tape to avoid arcing).
Yeah -this was fun
Long reach, plus few layers of insulation tape necessary
was an adrenalin fuelled learning curve for me, but given I'm there, a monkey can do it with a fair wind firewallguy said:

My rev counter bounces around when accelerating, thought it was another 'feature'. Is the fuse easy to get too?I replaced the 100Amp fuse after work this evening and took it out for a 12 mile run to see if it made any difference. The PAS is back on and off but that may be a weak battery. The lights and blowers seem more stable but still dip at idle (again, the battery could do with a charge). My fuse was intact but a little corroded. It didn't look like the normal blade fuses I've seen on here. It was only about 1mm wide between the terminals? Anyway it has a midifuse now and is a little better.
