Fitting radiator fans
Discussion
A quick question before I do something I regret! I am just about to fit the fans to the radiator. Am I right in thinking that I need to push the part of the fixing which looks like a plastic spike through the radiator finning? I think this must be right as I can't see how else the fixings work, but wanted to check as they will bend the finnings when pushed through.
Sorry for the dodgy description - can't seem to get the thumbsnap thing to work this morning, or would have posted a picture.
Thanks all.

Yes from memory each fan has 4 fittings (though there may be variations depending on the fans you have), and the spikes go through from one side to the other. There are some rubber pads which I think fit on both sides.
I would be more specific but my car is at the factory at the moment (IVA on Tuesday!) so I can't look at it. But the spikes do go through the radiator, and do need a little bit of a wiggle to get them through. Once you get them just through the other side grab the end with some pliers to pull through. Check your positioning first - once they are fitted the only way to take them off is to cut the plastic, they work a bit like a cable tie.

yes.
I did this bit recently. if it gets too stiff, take it out and try the next hole along. it's also easier if you put a tiny bit of grease on the tip of the spike.
(that sounds dodgy reading it back to myself...)

That's mt308, that's really appreciated. Hope IVA goes through ok - looks like you could be on the road next week!
Unfortunately I have to wait another 2 weeks for the registration and the factory to give her a road test. But fingers crossed I will be driving her back from Hinckley this side of Easter!I found this photo on a FB page showing the fan clips under the rad.
I hope the owner doesn't mind...
