I posted this in Biker banter

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

was suggested as it was for the Bristol area to also post in the South west board. good idea not hurting anyone and hoping to save people money

So why did I get this Via Email

Hi,

Your topic 'Might be of help to someone who wants to start riding' has been removed for the following reason:

CROSS POSTING IS NOT ALLOWED, please stop!

Regards,
PistonHeads

really do mods think this was a waste of a thread, saving members money on something I have no connection with and was spotted posted else ware.

I thought Mods are on the forum to remove porn, Spam, bad behavior, keep the place and helpful place and somewhere members want to post, visit etc..

But not to removed thread that can help people but most important VERY RELEVANT TO BIKER BANTER BOARD AND SOUTH WEST BOARD

because rules are rules helping others does not matter?

We just don't want people to cross post, as asked in our rules, thats all.

It's an aged and fairly standard rule on forums, sorry it has annoyed you this time around.

Is there any way you can implement some sort of thing where the same thread can be posted on, for example, GG and one other board? The cross-posting thing comes up quite a bit when a topic is relevant to a couple of different forums. If it'd be possible for the same thread to be accessible from a couple of different places I think it'd be a good solution for posters and mods.

When we create a poll or wiki, there's an option on the "start topic" page to modify the type of thread, maybe you could put a cross-post option in there and allow the poster to select one other board to post their thread to?

As Per Next Post, agree if you have 5 of the same posts scattered over the forum but not then it's me just helping out fellow PH members. Seems rather a stupid thing to remove in my eyes. Nothing bad just helping other members and I get a thread removed and Email.

Who in hell is that helping? Mod thought it was worth there time to Email and remove a thread, Dear god talk about only following by the rules. Even if it means it's doing the opposite of helping Pistonhead members

Should I have modded the thread to direct more towards Bikers in biker banter and Bristol members who want to learn to ride? or who this have been take as braking the rules by a mod with too much time on his hands?

just interested to know? as I will be keeping a eye out for any helpful threads that have more than 1 thread on PH in the future. I know that does not help but if the Mods feel it's that's Big a issue.
