Just booked an MoT for my elderly GTV & was told that the airbag warning light is still only an advisory...

... UNTIL 20th MARCH!

So as a service to fellow PHers - get it booked in!

Or, you could always fix the fault then take it for an MOT wink

My old Jag used to have a problem with Sheffields many potholed streets, which seemed to annoy the passenger airbag connections under the seat. By the time I got to the ringroad it had settled down enough to put the light out.

Check your cables under the seat, the connector has probably been pulled apart a bit.

I highly dought that the new rules will come in come march 20th these where meant to be implemented 2 years back just get it moted before the 20th, or remove the bulb, or fix the fault.

Removing the bulb is not going to secure a pass btw.

As said above, If the car has an airbag light it has to illuminate with the ignition and then go out to pass, same for the EML I believe

EML?, Engine Management Light - is not part of the test and will not be part of the test from March 20th - advisory at most.

Don't get it confused where VOSA use the abbreviation MIL - Malfunction Indicator Lamp, which are used for other electrical systems within the car, airbag MIL, steering MIL etc.

Nope never did only light that can be failed is the abs light and that was changed so it didn't have to go through the sequence on start up. Also another point i found out recently from the mot tester if a spring has snapped only on the last quarter-half coil at the bottom and is not at a risk of poping of the shock it can't be failed which is staggering really.
