Where the hell are we supposed to take all the silly little breaks and rests that we are told are so important if the fking councils keep narrowing and restricting all the bloody lay-bys.

Unless you are heading up and down a motorway or major trunk road there are fewer and fewer places to actually stop when you need to.

There are a few local lay-bys here in my neck of the woods that have had parking bays built in them that are only large enough for cars, others have new signs forbidding lorries from going in.

Don't even get me started on London, you have to do a in-out loop with that one and time it so you dont need a break because you simply cannot stop anywhere at all or you will get ticketed.

I live in and deliver to places in deepest Cornwall, everywhere is a single carriageway and there are no major roads for me to be on, the Council highways people here are mongs is the problem.

Oh, and people want to buy stuff from shops in these rural locations, not my fault. Fail to stop and sit still on a time penalty for 15/45 minutes and it's soon my bloody fault though.

And another thing, People can shove the term "professional driver" up their ass, when they say it they mean it in a derisory "you should know better" way, it is most often trollied out as a way to make the person saying it feel superior.

Not much help but there is a few places in centre of London to park for 45 minutes.

There is a bay on westbound "City Road" A501 just past the eye hospital that allows

parking after 10am,it's in a bus lane so not easy to spot but it DOES exist.

Also on the A1 Holloway Road just south of Holloway junction there is a long bay that

allows 2 hours iirc.

I drive a small truck so can fit in these, not alot of help if you are 45 + feet long.

I've taken to removing the number plate on the trailer and throwing a cloth over the front one. Most parking tickets are issued through camera now anyway, can't remember the last time I saw a wally with a hat on.

Ok so next time you want anything delivered you wont mind meeting the lorry at the motorway or trunk road !!! seriouly it's more to do with the lack of respect for anyone that does anything usefull or contributes to the running of the economy ...

Why not just plan in advance and take notes of where you can stop?

Did you not get taught D S T at school?

Yes, yes, it is my fault for not planning in advance. Must be, could not possibly be the fault of the Council policy to restrict layby access to laybys we have been using for years with no problems.

The planning I want to do is planning how to shove this truck so far up the ass of the person who is in charge of this st that the rear markerboards are the only bit visible.

Ah, the theory that we get our jobs given to us at the start of the day and can plan our routes. We get given a job to start with and then get directed about randomly all over the place throughout the day constantly playing catch up to cover the work.

The ones that have been closed round here were after the locals got tired of trampers stting on the verges and the paths nearby, bottles of piss and litter everywhere.

In a lot of cases like this you only have your colleagues to blame. As with most professions the tts ruin it for the rest.

Well the councils should provide toilets that are not full of wking perverts and litter bins that are actually emptied once in a while.

Fair point about some drivers being utter fking animals but to be honest that attitude comes from the facilities being non existant to begin with and the fed up drivers thinking bks to it, I need a st and there is nowhere.

I had to laugh driving South on the A34 towards the M4. Some of those laybys looked about five foot wide?

Are you a HGV driver ?

Have you seen the rules we must adhere to ?

And the potential fines that go with it if you don't ?

Try finding a parking spot when your tacho says less than 15 mins till Break time !

No, a good job is being ruined by silly regulations and people who cannot and will not see our point of view and insist of interfering and hindering us at every opportunity.

Good job all the drivers who hate what the job has become don't all take the "fk-em" attitude or there would be a huge problem with moving all the food around this crowded little country.

And then there is you, you dip into this section when you want to stir it up a bit, and you have a curious anti lorry agenda, do you work in highways planning ? you could you know, it is right up your alley.
