Low carb recovery drink/gel/bar etc
Discussion
Diabetic so can use the 60g/100 bars when riding, but when I need something afterwards, even something labelled as a protien bar would send my sugars way high. The REGO Night drinks look about bang on for me at 25g or protien vs 7g of carbs. Fine for after gym when I do pretty much go to sleep, but not after a middle of the day ride when I will eat a main meal afterwards
Has anyone tried anything else?

Try reading up on SIS web site (there are links from the products to detailed info on them) and then ring them up and question them, they have been very helpful in the past.
If that doesn't produce a good solution you may just have to read the labels on the other products out there......

Surely the problem here is that you need Protein AND Carbs to build muscle.
Indeed, but its not really about building muscle, its more about recovery. I try and do 2 decent gym sessions a week (45-60 minute tabata interval type things on a bike) and then a decent 3-4 hours worth of riding at weekend.agentnomad said:

Oddly, thats exactly what I did after i posted, they do have an faq re diabetics, but is common sense, which is better than sily caveats which is what I got back from high5. Standard REGO Protien powder actually has lower carbs and higher protien per 100g than REGO night. I suspect I will order a few sachets of each and try them. I would have preferred a bar for after gym and ride than another drink, but all protien bars are circa 25g of carbs. I may just try and max out concentration levels. One thing that is missing from SIS website is max concentration levels. SIS do seem to cater better for low carb users than Powerbar/high5 though, so you're right - I think they are the best startIf that doesn't produce a good solution you may just have to read the labels on the other products out there......
