In the glovebox of our 2005 Focus Zetec (05 plate)(Mk2 new shape) there is an Aux input socket.
The Stereo is a 6000CD. In the manul it says to swicth on the auxiliary device via the "AUX Button". There is no "AUX" button on the stereo. Does anyone know how we can get an MP3 player to play?

Have tried a minijack and a standard jack in the socket and niether feels like a very good fit. Have also tried pressing the CDDJ button (and all the others but no luck.

Any suggestions/ideas appreciated. Thanks

On the o/h's 207cc I had to enable the aux input initially otherwise the stereo wouldn't even know it was there, and then it needs to be selected via the on-screen menu. Are you sure 'AUX' is not selectable like that?

Thanks for the reply. There is no menu as such. I've tried pressing all the buttons.

I may have missed something. I was hoping one of the millions of Focus drivers could enlighten me.

You need to change the head unit to a slightly newer version. Ford was messing with the specs around this time so there are some weird anomilies like yours (aux input without the ability to play)

I'm guessing this is your version.

When what you need is this version.

Note the aux button top left. Ebay or a scrappy is your friend here.

Thanks for the answer. I suspected it might be something like that.
