Totally and utterly knackered- they've closed the bridge due to an incident yesterday - wish we'd checked the news first! Sat in traffic for 3hours and the buggers still had the audacity to charge us £2!!!! Surely given the fact it is mothers day and they've got such long delays they should just have the barriers open to allow smooth flow of traffic. Absolute to55pots.

All looks very strange as lots of police and there appeared to be Stingers across the full width of the bridge on the south side???

Apparently it is going to be closed until Thursday or Friday; I'm guessing it must have been a very serious incident to cause this - I hope no one has been seriously hurt.

It was a suicide attempt. Drove over the bridge abbot 10.30 and there was a guy who had climbed over the barrier there and was standing on on of the sections where the suspension cables join the bridge.

Where did you get that information from? I was under the impression it would open later today.

Don't understand why they should loose revenue because you're late and there is traffic?

Because they are effectively causing an obstruction of the highway; the traffic was already hideous so they we're just making it worse- common sense would be to open the barriers to free up the traffic. Sitting in that amount of traffic for that length of time is very tiring which could cause accidents later on in the journey. Its the common sense option.

HA saying that it should be open at 18:00, mind you, they've previously said 14:30 & 15:30 frown

Another case of an over reaction by the authorities. I can see the bridge from my upstairs window. Apparently the bloke jumped at 3pm, yet the bridge was shut till 6 to 6.30pm?

It's very sad when someone takes their own life and sympathies go to his family.

I hope I don't sound too callous but why oh why do people that decide to commit suicide always do it in such a dramatic way- why always at peak time on a railway or from a motorway bridge? Surely if you want to find inner peace then you'd go somewhere beautiful and gas yourself in a car or take a cocktail of drugs??? Not that I condone suicide but it always confuses me of the method people choose for their last moments.

Sad events like this make you realise how the trivial things are that we get upset about pale into insignificance.
