Just been servicing the car and noticed a crack in the rear n/s hub, the one that carries the bottom wishbone.

Anyone had this issue?

I'm planning on stripping the hub off next week and getting it welded, don't fancy leaving it to fail with 400bhp being pushed through it!

Thanks

Mark

Oooo that's not nice , Jetstream will probably have a sensible priced replacement .

I machined mine and fitted a steel sleave to go all the way through , also fitted a rose joint to get rid of the ball joint .

yes, but mine was much worse than that... on close inspection mine was machined too small (something like 1mm) and the just bolted up at the factory until it cracked, over the years it had actually developed another hairline crack at the side and was just going to fall off.
Clearly mine wasnt an isolated case.
I had the upright welded up and remachined... new one was something like 1k plus vat... I now have 2 second hand spares just in case.

I have a spare n/s front upright if anyone interested, needs a bit of work as bearing doesn't fit as tight as it should

My fronts were put together before they had steel sleeves fitted (later cars?) so I had mine welded+strengthened, remachined and sleeved.

Any idea of costs for that and where to get it done?

First one cost £550 (drive in, drive out), second cost £50 just to have it remachined and sleeved, but I delivered the hub to them.

It was a local motorsport company to me in Warwickshire.
