A ford door solenoid pulls a lever in the locking mechanism. If the mechanism doesn't retain it's locking position ther ar e several possibilities.
And, if also you don't hear the solenoid when pushing the badge it's maybe due to the same problem.
I would suspect the solenoid has gone. It's cheap but quite difficult to replace as you can't see anything.
Why the solenoid ? If te locking position is not retained, the lever of the boor lock isn't fully in position to lock up the latch.
This can be a problem in the boot lock mechanism, but more likely : a solenoid problem because you don't hear anything when pushing the button.
But first check if the's power at the solenoid and boot switch. Remove the N/S manhole cap in the backpanel and check the connectors.
